Hardy's injury is more problematic for 2012 than 2011. He's going to be needed in a big way next year, and insofar as this injury stunts his development, it's going to hurt against our murderous schedule in 2012.

I have torn my medial and my lateral. Think of them as rubber bands on the side of the knee to keep the joint together.

Whomever said that the grade means everything was right. Most I have heard refer to a tendon as a rupture, and a joint capsule as a rupture, but ligaments which are a series of long tissues that separate, a tear.

It also depends where at on the ligament the tear is and the structure of the individual's knee joint. The tear is the easy part. That can heal in 5-6 weeks, as I remember. The hard part is collateral damage. What else happened?

Listen for that. If nothing, maybe that are using this along with his need to bulk as a limiting factor. As I remember, they rarely operate on these, so you can bet it's bad if they do! That is all I can remember.

That's bad. I wish him the best. Hey buddy, some of us have been there before. It sucks. I pray you make the best of it.

Big loss. Loved Eilar's video last year, and I thought we'd see him on special teams.

Sitting the year out may turn out best long term, if there are no lingering effects from the injury. This will allow him to get acclimated with the system and continue the weight program before guys like Prosise, Turner, and Baratti get on campus. It wouldn't hurt to redshirt a few of them.

Does anyone know the extent of his injury? Normally, if it is just one of the collateral ligaments, surgeons were recalcitrant to operate. Maybe this is changed, and they can control how it heals, with surgery. Anyone have any specific information? General understanding of current techniques?

Kelly just said on his radio show that Eilar is back to practicing with the team.

All hands on deck at the safety position. Very important that all our guys are healthy and ready to roll at this position.

That is great news. I sent him a congrats message on FB after he committed in Feb., and he replied with a polite thank you. I'm not saying that is the world, but not a lot of kids would take time to do that. I'm pulling for him big time.

So where do we think he ends up playing? Does he slot in at safety or corner? I have a feeling that the defensive backfield is going to be a fluid situation this spring and heading into the fall.

i'm thinking with farley's move to safety does this opens up the possibility of eilar moving to corner.

Sorta out of left field here, but anybody know why he's buried on the depth chart? Is he still finding his legs after the injury? I'm by no means writing the guy off yet, but if he's healthy, anybody realistically expecting him to contribute this year, next year?

I had ("have" may be fading a bit) big expectations for him.

I'd guess he still hasn't fully recovered from the knee and has a ton of catching up to do on the field.

I usually say when someone has a serious knee injury it takes 9 months to get back and another year on top to get back to where you were football wise pre injury.

I don't know. Eilar's injury was not that severe. He practiced for the bowl game and wasn't limited in the spring. My guess is that it's not athletic but mental ... He's just behind Farley on the learning curve.

That's what I'm thinking. I know we will see Eilar out there making plays sooner than later and to be honest Farley is rather imposing in his own right and really exceeding any expectations I had for him! Pleasantly surprised!

Eilar did not practice for the bowl game. He did do running and non contact. He'll get there...Its not a bad thing to not play as a freshman or sophmore. Lol ND is out of the days where 90% of classes have to play their first yr

Eilar's on demo squad right now. Kelly said tonight: "He physically has all the tools; some guys just pop a little bit later. We expect him to. He wants to. He's got a great attitude. Sometimes it just takes a little bit longer."

Getting his chance and making the most of it! Kid is showing glimpses of what he can do. Little slow on reaction sometimes, but thats just inexperience. But hes showing that his speed/athleticism can make plays that Farley/Collinsworth cant. He didnt make the tackle on that last play, but he saved the play. Im not 100% sure thats a play Farley/Collinsworth can make on recovery speed. Hes just got to stay healthy and keep improving, but hes showing more than enough that he has more PT coming in the future.
