I'm pretty sure K. Russell will be a slot receiver. He could evaluate differently at that position. Regardless, he is a solid prospect, and he's worthy of a big push by staff.

not sure what everybody else thinks, but i think russell would benefit greatly from a year of physical/mental tutallage compared to coming in having to play right away...from watching his film, i'm just not sure he'd be ready right off the bat, but i love the potential and home run capability. if he gets coached up for a year i think he could be a great weapon

Premium artiicle on Scout about Russell saying three lead for him right now..., anyone know if we are in his top three? I don't have a membership to Scout so kind of hoping someone might be able to share something.

Thanks for the info. Was wondering and hoping that we would be in his top three. Good news.

Talks very fast (maybe I should say excitedly), but very intelligent sounding. Gotta make the grandfather love us to get him I think.
He hasn't spoken with Coach Kelly yet. Sounds as if academics really are important to him, unlike others who just say they are.
I am liking our chances more and more as I listen.

Yeah he definitely speaks well. Will be looking to go somewhere where other big time recruits are committing/signing. Sounds like he has a really good head on his shoulders.

He and Garnett (and to a lesser degree Banner) have talked about playing together.

Reel in cats???!!! Isn't that cruelty to animals? Be careful....they don't like to get reeled in.

USC offered. top 5 of Washington, Cal, ND, Boise State and USC. IMO that USC offered didnt help us at all.

I totally agree with you there. Something tells me that he maybe was kind of waiting for an offer from USC.

Ok. I know a lot of people won't like to hear this and I'll probably have to duck after saying this, but here goes...

I really am not impressed with this kid at all. I don't like his film at all. He doesn't look fast, he goes down easily, not physical, good elusiveness though.

The recruiting services aren't that high on him either. Some have actually down graded him after the 7 on 7 tournaments. He just isn't explosive.

He was downgraded because he took one for the team and played RB because his teams were loaded at WR. You don't get any run in 7-on-7 tourneys at RB.

Not sure what film you are watching Sherm, but the kid is plenty explosive, especially at the slot where is where he should be in college. Kid is dynamic with the ball in his hand (and USC, Cal, and ND, among many others, are very good offers). There are scouts that aren't as high on him and there are scouts that love him. CoachD on ISD loves him, and he's a great judge of talent.

I'd say pass if we were closer to getting the RBs we need.

We're not recruiting him to be a RB...he thinks slot is his best position and I'd imagine that the ND coaches are thinking the same...

All valid points...I thought we were after him as a RB/Slot type. If he plays strictly slot I'd like to have him. Although I'd prefer Treggs at slot. Even though he isn't interested in us anymore I would take Chris Mangus over Keivarae at a rb/slot postion. Just my opinion.

I'm kind of with you, Sherm. At RB, I'd prefer both Marshall's and Mahone over him. And at the slot, I'd prefer Neal or Reeves...or possibly even others.

That being said, I'd still be happy if he came to South Bend.
