FWIW I asked Justin Wells of Gatorbait about Schutt.. He said that unless UF gets a visit this month he doesn't see them being a major player.
He doesn't have a visit scheduled for UF again this summer.
Here's a quote from a poster on 247:
Per ISD, he's visiting this Tuesday, which is great news!
Trying not to get my hopes up, but still very exciting.
Landing Jones, Schutt, and Day would ensure a level of sustained DL dominance that we haven't seen for the better part of two decades.
Just curious... if you had to pick only one of the above, who would it be and why?

I actually think schutt is better suited for DE in our defense
1. Jarron Jones
2. Tommy Schutt
3. Sheldon Day
I think we get 2 of the 3
Disagree. He looks to be the only DL recruit that's clearly destined for DT/ NT.
247 is higher on Jones than Schutt. Rivals is the opposite. ESPN is higher on Jones than Schutt, but has both rated much lower than 247 or Rivals.
I'm torn on who we need more. It's tempting to say Schutt since Nix appears to be the only elite talent at DT, but Cwynar is underrated and if we can get some productive reps out of Stockton, our NT depth in 2012 will be pretty good.
I'll have to go with Jones, mainly because when EJ graduates after this season, Tuitt will be the only elite SDE on the roster (unless Niklas ends up there).[/QUOTE]
I think Kona is a SDE right?

Schutt is better when he is asked to penetrate the line and be a playmaker, our NT is a plug that has to stay in his lane and plug is gap, that's not what schutt excels at, schutt remind me more of Ethan Johnson, then to nix
Schutt "excels" at penetrating because he's a 300 lb blue-chip recruit playing in a high school 4-3. He'd excel anywhere on the DL in any formation in high school.
Schutt projects at NT for us because he's already over 300 lbs and has the frame to get even bigger.
EJ isn't much of a pass rusher.

Just because he's 300lbs that's doesn't mean he has to be a NT, it's his skill set, Mario Williams is 300lbs he's not playing DT is he? Besides schutt plays more DE then DT for his high school team anyways
As I explained earlier, what position Schutt plays in his high school 4-3 is irrelevant to where he projects on the next level.
And in case you haven't noticed, 3-4 DEs don't do a lot of pass rushing either.
It's not so much his weight as his build. Kids that have the physique to be a true NT are rare; Schutt is one such recruit. I'm virtually certain Kelly wants him as a 0- and 3-tech DT.

I know 3-4 DE don't rush the passer I coach the 3-4
Then why are you so insistent that his success as a one-gap pass rusher in a high school 4-3 means he must be a 3-4 DE at ND? Both DEs and the NT must frequently two-gap in a 3-4; the NT just needs to more of an immovable object since he's going to get double-teamed more often than not.
So if you're looking at Schutt, Jones, and Day... which one do you train at NT? Obviously Schutt, since he's got the frame to play effectively at 330+ with great leverage and endurance.
Ok just say your right cus I'm on my iPod and I don't feel like writing a lot
Not trying to be a jerk, neo. I'm just starved for substantive discussion about Irish football. Apologies if I got a little overzealous.
