It's 4:30 pm on last Friday in July & Stephon Tuitt just walked in my office asking if I can let him in a room to watch tape. #Dedication
Hey, Carlo, think of lateraling to Blanton.
LOL!
Blanton can get it.
(Side note, not meant to offend Tuitt's thread, but who's got the fastest wheels on defense?)

According to the measurements that we have it's Harrison Smith period. Ben Councell is one flicker behind at 4.39. Then come the guys in the 4.4s like Hardy, JoshA, Brown, and, I think Jackson. Blanton is at 4.5, I believe. Slaughter, too.
Note that the speed is coming with Kelly. Tommy Tuberville spent most of his media days comments talking about how they [Texas Tech] were getting a little smaller but a lot faster on defense, since it is speed which kills modern offenses. We are going that way too, but our board hasn't quite caught up to the trend, and still fusses too much as to how big all the guys on defense have to be. A new world's a'comin'..... it's why I'm wondering about the guys like Dan Fox, who is, I believe, our fastest linebacker. CLOSING SPEED---SPACE COVERAGE.
I find it extremely hard to believe that Harrison Smith runs a 4.38. I certainly did not see that kind of speed on his interception return in the Sun Bowl.
Blanton does not run a 4.5.
The only reference we have is the 40-times listed on their Rivals profiles. I'm as skeptical as you are about them, but unless you have a more reliable source, we have no other basis for comparison.

Guys,
Harrison is a sub 4.4 guy. He actually out ran Golden Tate in high school at a track meet. Don't be fooled, the kid can run.
There's no way in hell Harrison runs a sub 4.4
If you don't believe me, please save this post and we'll re-visit it at the NFL combine.
He'll run a 4.4 similar to what eric berry ran. Those who question Harrison's speed obviously did not follow his recruitment in high school. He ran 4.38 at athen's combine.

It's tough to take that list seriously when apparently Eric Berry was much faster in HS (4.33) compared to his NFL combine time of 4.47

Harrison will be luck to run sub 4.5, which is still faster than half of the S going into the NFL.
