Sad to hear. I was clueless about Winehouse until she received much acclaim. Still, I was WTF? I don't think Gaga will follow her lead. Not a fan of Gaga, but a fan of her work effort and early success. She is a stud.

Not to be a jerk, but I guess I had assumed she died years ago based on what little I had heard about her and the fact that I hadn't heard about her in a while. So I guess I was surprised to learn she died today, but only because I was surprised that she was still alive up until today.

It depends. I don't feel for people who do drugs to party and have fun, but some people use drugs to self-medicate for personal demons. I think she was more in the former category. Drug addiction can be a self-inflicted issue but it can also be an illness.

Apparently I'm one of the few who happens to think she was an amazing talent. I understand that list is in some rarefied air, but I for one think she belongs there.

I've been seeing this day coming for some time, listen to her first couple albums...**** is very good. Great even.

Very sad. A talented but haunted soul who never found peace. She had a lot of talent, but but most of it was not realized before she was gone.

I agree that her level of achievement did not come close to what the other members attained. But she did have a legion of fans who followed her. More of a dim star than a bright star, but a star none the less.

No matter how messed up she became, she was only 27. And someones baby girl. You cant give up on your kids. I can only imagine the pain her parents are going through. Heartbreaking.
