Almost looks like a slightly less athletic Ben Councell to me but a good prospect. Surprisingly we haven't heard much about him recruiting wise. I wonder how much interest ND has in him

Per Scout, we're in his top 5, along with Utah, BYU, Cal, and Nebraska. He's Scout's 10th ranked DE. Visiting all of his top 5 after the season, and then he'll make his decision. Dad is an ND fan so he knows all about ND, and values academics and a strong football program.

Seemingly out of nowhere right? Keep an eye out for him though...

Another OLB hybrid DE to bring in. Reminds me of Tom Strobel but quicker. Would love to add him.

I cannot believe I haven't heard about this kid until just a day or so ago. Has a good offer list and is rated as a four star on all four sites. It sounds like we have a legitimate shot at him with him naming us in his top five. I see he does not have an offer yet..., wonder if one might come eventually??

I love the video's. Watch him stay at home, see the ball and then attack. Love it I say!

Any of the body experts out there able to see what he might be able to bulk up to tho? He seems kinda solid already, but do not our coaches like a bigger weight on the guys?

^This.

Was never big on Strobel but this kid shows more athetic ability. Would be a very nice pick-up.

Reading up on him a little, seems like BYU is in pretty good shape.

And this is why we should never believe what recruits say, as 17 yr olds change their minds every day, nay, every hour. I have to remind myself of that all the time when I talk about recruiting, as these kids consistently prove my predictions wrong (even though I go by exactly what they say sometimes LOL)...

Boo Hiss I liked this kid, and I'll still root for him. I was hoping he'd come to us.

Prep recruit Hinds commits to BYU - Standard-Examiner
By Staff Standard-Examiner
08/08/2011

...

Hinds informed other schools in an email this week that he was going to sign with BYU, making it official with Cougars coach Bronco Mendenhall on Monday morning.

"My dad and I met with coach (Bronco) Mendenhall in his office this morning and I committed to him and will be enrolling at Brigham Young University after I complete my LDS church mission. I'm very excited about the academic, social and football opportunities I will have at BYU," Hinds wrote in a release according to the Daily Herald.

At 6-foot-5, 235 pounds, Hinds has played defensive end at Davis. The two-time Standard-Examiner All-Area Team honoree could end up as a linebacker in college. He is the highest rated recruit in the state, according to many scouting publications.

Hinds had received official offers from as many as 15 universities, including Utah, Nebraska, Notre Dame and a number of Pac-12 schools.

Hinds made 58 tackles and had 7.5 sacks during his junior season at Davis. ...

I dont think he he is as good as people are thinking, Ive seen him play 2 times in person, and he was easily blocked, and didnt really make an impact, it was in the state tourney, and one game against Bingham, with 2 or 3 D1 offensive linemen, I dont think he even made a tackle. After his 2 year mission, he would of been special teams at ND.

By people do you mean the numerous scouting agencies that have given him four stars? You know, ESPN, 24/7, Rivals, and Scout? Those people?

The kid is a four star prospect across the board. His film looks good. Scouting agencies (esp ESPN) are very reluctant to hand out four stars to a player that plays in a state that is not known for football. I'll respect your post, but at the same time, I'll roll with what every scouting agency in the country says.

He is over rated, believe me. Most of his stats are against poor teams, while in the big games, like I said easily blocked. I am really glad he isnt an Irish player. The scouting services are wrong about this one,
