I'm tellin you...write it down, take a picture, Cam will be a stand out as soon as he gets on campus.

We are in agreement.

I will qualify that and say he won't see more reps than Jonas, but he will be a solid part of this offense next year.

PS. I still think Jonas Gray is a monster.

My feeling is that he is a legit 4-star RB, but that said, not every 4-star makes an instant impact. The competition is just so different in high D1 football--no matter how could your high school conference was--that some kids need a while to adjust. The fact that he seems physically mature cuts both ways: he will not have to "grow into his body," but he will have also benefited in high school by playing against mostly 16 and 17 yos when he was 19.

Long story short, I think the talent is there, but patience is warranted. He and GAIII add great depth, but our real hope is Jonas.

To me, Cam is that type of blue collar, hard working RB that we always pass on that lights us up. I'm extremely excited for Cam as a player and a person at ND. He is already one of my favorites.

He is so quick and has balance other guys dream of having on the field.

His vision and timing (in terms of hitting holes and setting up blocks down field) stood out to me, in addition to the balance, quickness and good hands that you guys mentioned. In watching some of his tape (disclaimer: I'm not a scout), he seems to see the field really, really well.

Here's a look at the man:

Just wanted to quote this to remind everyone that this kid is on our roster. I really believe that he will have a tremendous career at Notre Dame.

I never get tired of watching C McDiesel hurdle defenders in slo-mo; especially to The Last of the Mohicans theme.

Fingers crossed his habit of hurdling defenders doesn't lead to him getting clobbered and injured. He seems to do it a lot. It's exciting to watch, but I cringe everytime I see someone do that (unless it's the other team and Te'O is making the hit). Great balance though. Great speed. Great vision. Don't forget the competition he played against was some of the best in TX.

what always stands out to me is this kid is familar with what BK wants to do with this offense... and if he plays this year, which he should at some point, watch for that screen

When really. Not because of ability but necessity. This is a 4 year prospect though. Fell like gys are hyping him up too much based on a highlight film

That definitely takes his tape from great to epic.

Loved the video. One of the best movies and songs I think ever.
Surprised he wasn't a higher rated player just by looking at that film with top competition in Texas. Little white guy just makes me want to chant RUDY!

I apologize for reiterating this, but my brother, who is an elite sports coach and appraiser of athletic talent in the Houston area, told me that not only is Cam McDaniel for real, but that he reminds him of Craig James with more athleticism. {If anybody doesn't realize how good James was, look him up}. Sure it's true that we must wait to see how it really translates to ND-level competition, but we have every preliminary reason to suspect that we have been gifted with a prize.

^ I agree.

I refuse to let anyone rain on my parade of the awesomeness Cierre Wood and Cam McDaniel will bring to our ground game. I think they are both very special.

It was kind of funny to see this. Notice how they played the same good runs over and over? (Most of which were against ND?) Is Harrison Smith the only defender left from the McGuffie era? Did you notice how those ND defenders (God Bless 'em all) ran around like a bunch of highschool players? And did you notice how many times McGuffie ended up, near the end of the tape, being manhandled like a rag doll? That is where any similartiy to Cam McDaniels, real or imagined, ends.

How about integrity and intelligence?

You vJunkie.

Settle your debts.

Check you ledger.

Hot diggity dog. Yeah, I said it. Wanna make something outta it?

Oh, and basing Cam's play on highlight video versus very good talent in TX isn't a bad thing at all. He was the player of the year in North Texas or some such. Kid has wheels and great balance. I think he will be great to watch, hopefully he'll get a shot at KR and PR opportunities.

They don't remind me of each other either. Cam is more stout and relies on good decisions and balance. McGuffie relied on the fact that he can hit full speed in two strides. For all the negativity, McGuffie burst is pretty undeniably. He could have been very good in a Florida-style attack.
