Irish Gamble on Unproven Recruit

Look at the size of the kid in the picture from this article. Honestly, he already looks like Harrison Smith, minus the definition.

I like his size ALOT. Martin has already proven that he can make a DB.

I'm kinda glad this kid got an offer. He's very high on ND and wants to be Irish. We've done well with Indy kids in the past, Jeff Burris, Derrick Mayes, and Nick Martin come to mind.

Me too. We need to start taking some guys from Indiana. Kinda a slapp in the face not too.

This kid will run thru the wall for ND and Martin can teach him the rest.

Look at game 1 last year, Walls and Gray LOOKED like completely different players under Martin.

Harrison? Martin did a fine job with him, huh?

Great speed on the shuttle for a safety. This seems like a recruit with which mid-majors flourish because the big schools didn't do more homework.

Kinda refreshing to see a recruit know what he wants and put in the work to get it. Blue collar at it's best..no sense of entitlement just pure hard work and appreciation for the opportunity! Kids like this will always do well because the have no problem putting in work, I'm glad we got him an offer.

I think this reaffirms the idea that Perkins is more suited for OLB or RB at this point. Turner is a very solid prospect.

He's 6'2 200 lbs
He ran a 4.45 40 at camp
4.13 shuttle
34 in vertical

Pretty confident his "rankings" will be more appropriate by the end of his senior season

Agreed. Can't argue with those tangibles, and anyone who shows up at a camp determined to "earn" an offer probably has a good work ethic.

He's growing on me.

After seeing Harrison Smith go from "worst safety ever" to "pretty good" in a year, I will never doubt this staff when it comes to developing players.

Harrison came in as a consensus 4:s: S prospect. One could argue that his resurgence in 2010 says as much about the Weis regime's incompetence at developing talent (especially on the defensive side of the ball) as it does about Kelly's brilliance.

Examples of 2:s:/ unrated kids at previous programs that Kelly turned into studs would be more relevant to Kelly's ability to develop players.

Its June before the kid's senior year and he plays in Indiana. So not only is he not officially a 2* yet, but he would probably be the only 2 stars with a those tangibles and two BCS offers in the 2012 class. The only way he ends up with 2 stars is if they refuse to evaluate him because he is a solid commit.

He's actually a consensus 3:s: right now.

My above post was a little unclear. I was only trying to argue that Smith's 2010 resurgence isn't the best evidence for Kelly's ability to develop his players, since Harrison was a highly touted S recruit.

Idk who said Cathedral plays a weak schudule, but we play St. Xavier of Ohio, Moeller, were playing Elder this year at OSU, we are a 4a school we have been perenial condenders for the past decade. CHS also plays several 5a teams (in IN 5A is the highest division) and if the rules are changed Cathedral may move up to 5a soon. the competition that John Turner has is some of the best in the midwest, last season when CHS won state, we had one of the highest strength of schedules in the midwest

If you play St. Xavier, Moeller, and Elder...that is a legitimately tough schedule.

Welcome to the family. I am assuming that this kid could really be a hidden gem. The coaching staff must have really been wowed by him to offer at camp. I trust their judgement, and therefore, very excited about this commitment.
