Vandy is a great school. They are a top notch academic school but the football team is definently a bottom tiered sec school. Kids go to Vandy to get a great education first. I honestly don't see how cincy compares.

Another back that wants to go to a small school over ND? I hope this isn't Savon Huggins all over again.

Savon was always someone I never saw as a good fit. Something about him made me think "big head" even with his teammates giving interviews about how wonderful he is and yadda yadda. Hopefully this kid isn't thinking Vandy because he thinks he is so good he will dominate from get go there. I guess you could say I think worst case scenario when a kid is for a school not considered a contender by most. Hopefully he ends up ND. And for my comments on Savon, I still hope the best for the young man. As much success possible without derailing ND from a BCS TITLE!

Their backfield is loaded. Not to mention that Mike Blakely just transferred there from Florida. Kimbrow better take a look at depth charts.

ISD Freebie:
Kimbrow Set For ND Camp

I don't know if it's the way the article is written or not but he comes off sounding like a bit of a diva to me.

From the sounds of it, he will probably go wherever Redmon goes (which we already knew). So the question is this, what school gives BOTH Kimbrow and Redmon the opportunity to play early. I know we sit well in RB depth for Kimbrow, but honestly dont know how well Redmon fits into the depth chart. They both certianly have speed, so I would think we could find somewhere to stick him. We have a real shot if the staff can show them how ND is the best for the "group decision".

On that note, it looks like Auburn still hasnt offered Redmon yet? Anybody have insight on that?

I didn't really get that impression from the article, he just seems like he isnt going to go to a school that can't offer both him and his friend exactly what they need. In a way I see that as a good thing since they have some options together that will fit both their needs, why not be upfront about that rather than leading some schools on or trying to downplay things that are actually really important to you during your decision making process.

Either way, the one thing you can be sure of is that if he comes to ND he will be given the same opportunity and treatment as every other player on the roster. Under BK the guys who work the hardest and give the team the best chance to win are the guys who are going to be on the field, plain and simple with no exceptions. Its quite refreshing.

From the Ole Miss camp:

Brian Kimbrow is here fresh off of the Memphis camp a couple of days ago at which he ran another 4.28 40. Kimbrow continues to be high on Vanderbilt.

Kimbrow's teammate Will Redmond will be a serious factor in his recruitment and Redmond is here trying to earn an Ole MIss offer. He told me that Tennessee and Ole Miss are two programs that he really wants to get an offer from. He's landed offers from all over the southeast this spring. Redmond also ran a 4.3 40 at the Memphis camp. He's being recruited as a safety.

Told VolQuest this week that his top 3 consisted of Vandy, Cinci, and Auburn with Miami and Tennessee possibly rounding out his top 5. No mention of ND.

Well he has pretty much visited everyone of those schools except for Cincinatti. So its expected for him to have those teams in his top five. Im not worried though because the visit this week to ND could easily put us up there. As long as he actually shows up.

Doesn't look like he or Redmond will be visiting this weekend like they had said. Looks like ND has faded with this "package deal".

Has anyone ever had a stranger final 3 than this kid? One school that is good at football, but is the typical football factory and the players are barely students. One school is terrible at football, but is great academically. The other isn't really very good at football or academically (don't tell my mom I said that, she is a Cincinnati alum).

What criteria could you identify for this kid, based on his final 3? Their profiles wildly incongruous. Strange.

I honestly think he is digging for a Tennesee offer for Redmond. When that happens, he will be a Vol. IMO

I'm 83%* sure that the cooling might be a little mutual. We're in good shape with a lot of RBs of Kimbrow's caliber... Redmond is an extremely "meh" recruit and we're almost full at his spot... and there has been all kinds of chatter about ND holding out a bit for the elite guys.

*Yes, pulled that number out of my ***.

Kimbrow lists Tennessee outside of his top 5 yet:

Has been to UT more than any other campus in the country despite the fact that Vandy is his "leader" and closer to him.

Talks to UT beat reporters almost weekly.

Wants to play for a contender. He has said that on numerous occasions. I understand UT has not been amazing in the last few years but Vandy is the doormat of the SEC.

Hence the reason(s) I believe he is simply trying to get under UT's skin and earn an offer for Redmond. He understands Tennessee's fan base very well and knows that by entertaining Vandy, he is putting pressure on the Tennessee coaching staff through the media and fan base.

I've agreed with you the whole time on Kimbrow and Redmond... still believe they end up a UT as well.

Reportedly will announce next week to Vanderbilt, along with 5 other prospects at a sports bar in Nashville.

Kimbrow:
"Yeah, I will be committing next week," Kimbrow said. "I am deciding between Vandy, Cincinnati, Mississippi State, Auburn and Notre Dame.

"A bunch of us from Tennessee will [commit next week]. Some of these guys I have played with on a 7-on-7 team. We are all competitive and we get along very well. We just have developed a real good chemistry. I am hoping we all go to the same school and perhaps make a big name for that school."
