I thought Yuri had us on top?

There's a stronger chance that all 4 go to Rutgers than Yuri or Elijah or both come to ND. With that being said, we've certainly got a "good" shot but this saga is going to take a long time to play out... and half the reason why I think there is a low probability is that I see another CB or S or both committing before they're ready to make their decision.

I will wait and see if Geno gets to the ND campus. If he actually comes to visit, all bets are off. Any thing could happen then.

Geno was on a live chat on Rivals last thursday. He said he is visiting June 24-26th. I hope that's when Tee and Deontay come too. He also said he likes to play CB but prefers safety because of run support. Here are a couple questions and answers that would appeal to ND fans.

Comment From budd
When are you going to Notre Dame ?
8:03
GenoSmith: budd: I'm going June 24-26

Comment From Auburn Man
Do you worry about competition?
8:07
GenoSmith: Auburn Man: No, not at all. ... I'm definitely interested in Notre Dame and they have two of the best DBs in the country committed right now. Competition is not a factor.

Comment From ND Nation
how important is receiving a good education in your decision making process, compared to other factors?
8:15
GenoSmith: ND Nation: It's important ... because i'm coming from a school that values education. Also, my mom and grandmother are teachers.

Comment From Rocco22
Geno, are you comfortable playing safety or would you rather stick to corner?
8:17
GenoSmith: Rocco22: I love corner. But I prefer to play safety because I like being in run support.

Comment From NJ Irish
Would you be enrolling early?
8:22
GenoSmith: NJ Irish: No ... I want to enjoy my senior year. Experience prom again and all that.

Comment From ND student
Geno, do you think weather will be an impact on your decision?
8:33
GenoSmith: ND student: Not at all. I love playing in the cold. I like different environments really. I don't always like playing in the heat.

Certainly all reasons to feel good about ND's chances!

Geno is the biggest tease as far a recruits go. He tells everyone what they want to hear and is leading on just about every fanbase of the teams in his Top 5. I still say it is between Auburn and Alabama, but if he does come up next weekend anything can happen.

I like the fact that he wants to play Safety. There is a really good chance Prosise plays WR, so that would leave a safety spot open in this class at the moment.

Knowing his high school, which is a very good Catholic in the Atlanta burbs, I don't see why Alabama or Auburn are such a given. His school sends a lot of kids to private schools, and ND is a highly ranked Catholic university. If anything, the teachers are pro-Georgia and Georgia Tech. I doubt he will get a lot of push to go to Alabama or Auburn (nobody really considers either a "standout" school).

Long story short, betting that the kid will either go to the NC or the country's best defense, rather than ND, seems a lot more like playing the odds (regardless of the particular kid) than reading Geno Smith- especially considering he's open to safety.

We don't really know the family situations. Geno's family might be better off than Ray's was.

Perhaps, but if Drew would have been serious he would have at least taken an official visit... I just don't see how both players relate...

Well to start he has said on one occasion that Alabama was his leader and on a different occasion that Auburn was his leader. I understand his school is in the heart of UGA country but my basis was not that I was "playing the odds," my basis was that it came from his mouth.

Besides, have you seen his twitter feed? Everything is Auburn this, Alabama that.

You forgot the most important part of that chat. His pregame ritual is praying the rosary.

Good points. I would definitely agree with you if you said that Alabama and Auburn looked like his leaders. I was more reacting to calling him a "big tease," as if were a foregone conclusion that his interest in other schools is not real. My guess is that he likes all 3.

Prosise is without question a FS but I very much can see the G-man at SS.

As for Baratti I'm not sure what he's better suited for SS or FS.

I agree Prosise is a FS, but isn't Kelly taking a long look at him as WR ?

Not to mention, i'm not super confident that we have Baratti by NSD. He was pretty clear that if someone gives him a real shot to play QB, he will consider it. I have a feeling that someone will (whether they are truthfull will be shown in time) and he goes somewhere else. I hope I am wrong, but thats the feeling I get from him. I consider Baratti a "soft verbal".

Baratti has always struck me as the top flight risk of our current verbals.

Geno - I think we have a good chance. I hope he isn't just a tease though. We'll see in due time.

Barrati - Didn't Kelly say he would give him the chance to play QB? Even though his chances are very, very low to end up there.

And Whiskey and Wooly you guys are becoming a team or something.

Just my opinion at this point but I don't think we land Geno. I like that he is open to coming to ND for a visit so maybe that will make me more comfortable afterwards.

As far as Baratti, I could see him jumping at a chance to play QB somewhere else. Maybe ND not taking a QB in this class would convince him to stay but I don't see this staff giving him false hopes of playing QB. If we land Bush or Shaq or any of the other elite safties on the board, Baratti will bolt.
