Anyway, good news if the source is correct. I'm still going to let it play out tomorrow before I go overboard with my enthusiasm. I know people love breaking stories, but part of me wishes these kids would get the chance to make the announcement themselves. I guess it is partially their fault if they can't keep potential "sources" from contacting reporters, though.

I agree with you that this would be good news (even great news, I love this kids intensity on the field), and that having people breaking these stories is just wrong. Let these HS kids have their spotlight and let's find out from the source where they want to go. Clearly it worked out for us last year if the Devaris Daniels reports were true, but I say just let these kids make their own news.

Here is a recent Perkins interview, uploaded May 30 (from a Mich. St. reporter). It is a small sample, but he just seems like a confident kid that will come in and compete with an edge, something I think we need.

Keep this in mind from the notes on the OSU camp per 24/7:

Four-star David Perkins was another tremendously athletic edge rusher in attendance though at 6-2, 215 pounds, outside linebacker may be in his future. Perkins is a cut, physically impressive prospect that may be a good fit as a 3-4 outside linebacker due to his comfort level rushing the passer.

Incredibly versatile. He can really be plugged into any position really and probably excel at all of them. I really don't think he is being recruited for a particular position by BK, it is probably just going to be wherever he performs best once he gets on campus (if he picks us of course )

I'm not sure if anyone posted this already or not, but here's a quote from his HS coach that may shed some insight on ND's thoughts on position:

There’s some schools that look at him as a running back, like Penn State and Iowa. It’s kind of mixed. Oregon looks at him as an outside linebacker. Notre Dame looks at him as a safety.

One more thing, I think the current coaching staff excells at finding the right position for a given player.

I think this site has done an admirable job of keeping the hoopla down, and giving David his day. Some others mistake good reporting for spilling the beans and bragging about it. Two different things.

I will be interested in seeing how members of this site comport themselves if David committs to another school.
