Interesting Last Paragraph from Tomahwk Nation:

Freshman offensive tackle Jordan Prestwood is leaving FSU
There had been mixed signals about this. His friend Aaron Lynch spurned FSU for Notre Dame, Prestwood missed a ton of classes while being lonely/immture/homesick and may have been ineligible for Fall. He wasn't going to get PT this season after failing to put up 10 bench reps at the start of S&C (guaranteed to redshirt), though he is still a good prospect. In the end, this was a kid who was not ready to leave home and was not mentally ready to enroll in college. The girlfriend was at home, his friends were at home, and his mind was not in Tallahassee
Let's be classy and wish him the best of luck. A young kid who didn't find the right on his first try will now try again.
FSU has really had some bad luck with backup offensive tackles in the last few years-- bad luck that had nothing to do with a player not turning into a good player. But FSU taking nine offensive linemen in the last cycle now makes even more sense.
On another note, after getting Aaron Lynch into school and perhaps taking Prestwood with all of his spring grades, Notre Dame needs to be considered a serious football school again.

That bolded sentence is a back-handed compliment. It's implying that we've sold out our academic standards in order to recruit top talent.

Sour grapes thinly veiled as a serious point. I highly doubt ND is going to "sell out" their academic standards anytime soon, much less for a 3 star project lineman.

+1

Scout and ESPN both had him rated as the 10th best OT prospect in the 2011 class. If teams like Auburn, Florida, Florida State, and USC find him worthy of a scholarship (in addition to our staff) then I'm not too concerned about Rivals only giving him 3 stars.

And at least ND has academic standards to supposedly sell out. Bobby Bowden was pushing kids through FSU that were legitimately learning disabled. ESPN did a piece on this a year or two ago. Absolutely insane. I have a hard time believing that if Prestwood could clear admissions out of high school, that one tough semester at FSU would keep him from being readmitted. He clearly just made an error in judgment and was looking to right that.

i dont judge off of star systems... Silly Rabbit trix are for kids...

I only look at the offer lists. If Bama, USC, Florida ect. thought he was good, then I think he is good.

All Steelhead said was that he was a 3 star project. I don't think he was being harsh at all.

So because Bama, USC, and Florida offer he is a top ten tackle prospect?

I am truly just being a smart ***, but still.

Let's all remember that you can be ranked anywhere, developing into your potential is where it becomes difficult. Jordan has a harder road than many because he has played primarily as a tight end until now. Sure he's become more familiar and drilled at the tackle spot, but you don't just pick up the intricacies of the offensive line in a year.

Again, you can listen to anyone tell you anything. Two people can tell you seemingly opposite things, and they can both be right. Or can they?

If I got my *** whipped by someone, and I did not have the character I like to think I have, the first thing I would try do is convince everybody that schmuck was Mohammed Ali!

The reality is Brian Kelly likes Tight Ends with size and good feet, and he likes to turn them into Tackles. He has done that before with great success. So has Paul Longo . . .

It sounds like Jordan was questioning his decision from almost when he started at FSU. I doubt if his classes would have transfered. He probably was not concerned about hitting the books that hard if he wasn't satisfied there

#4 OT on 247... don't forget that. So a top 10 guy by 3 of the top 4 services... yeah, I'll take that and be THRILLED.

I'm very excited to have Jordan aboard. He's a talented football player.

Although, I have to say, he better work his butt off on the field, in the weight room, and in the classroom so he can be the best player and student he can be. I really want him to make the FSU fans that are now bad mouthing him look bad. REAL BAD.

Also, I thought of this when reading the title.

Thank you Mr. Swanson, and no, I wasn't knocking JP's ability, just stating that the hub-bub surrounding him wasn't exactly the same as Seantrel Henderson's or Cyrus Koujdgsfhjdcfhgvhgjhgdhgfdhg.

*I agree that offer lists do tell alot. I get excited to see "Bama, U$C, Florida, LSU" on a kid's list, and not so much when I see "Boston College, Rutgers, North Carolina, Virginia"
