Va. safety C.J. Prosise commits to Notre Dame

Jason Sapp

No schools compare to them academically or athletically," he said. "It's the kind of school that I can find success both on and off the field and I know it's the right place for me.

Prosise, who is ranked by 247Sports as a three-star recruit, compiled 42 tackles and seven interceptions as a junior, earning him first-team all-state honors. In addition to Duke, Maryland and Notre Dame, he also held offers from Penn State, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.

Good choice big man! Welcome to the team. Another ND type of kid with the academics playing a key role in the decision.

love the size and the skills. he's going to really improve over the next few years. staff seems to be doing the same thing they've done the last two years they've recruited. going after their type of guys and trusting their abilities to coach them into the players that they envision them becoming. I believe councell made this point in his interview how they really seem to know what they want and go after him. Great pickup would love two more.

This is bittersweet for me. While I'm always happy to gain commitments, esp from RKGs, I do have my concerns. Like others have already mentioned, where do we stand now with Bush, Shaq, Geno, Shumate, and Wright? All of those guys listed seem to have serious interest in ND. I'm wondering if maybe we should've held out?

This kid can play saftey fellas. He definately falls under the RKG category in that he seems to really love playing football.

Over than that he has a college body already(he seems every bit as big as Jamoris Slaughter) and has elite jumping ability.

There are soooo many great football players in America. So we just have to trust that Martin and Kelly saw something in this kid that warranted an actionable offer. Trust that Kelly's system that has produced 19 winning seasons out of 20 will turn this kid into an elite saftey.

I know I trust.

Yea don't really know what to make of this. Congrats to the kid but wonder if we should have held out. Watched the video and the thing I like is he has a nose for the ball. Anyone have any other exciting info on the kid?

Forget that. Get in or get left behind. There are plenty of great football players in this country and if our staff can develop, why wait for some pampered player? Look at what Martin has down with Gary Gray and Harrison Smith in ONE YEAR and imagine what this kid is going to look like by his 3rd (when he is playing) year?

Everybody in the country knows what we can take(5 DB's) and it there fault f they get left out in the cold.

Are you in or not, 'cause this train is rolling!

I agree with most of this, but I don't think any of the guys currently giving us a hard look are really "pampered" players. Also, I still think it is a little unclear if we are taking 5 or 6.

Staff hasn't spoken to Wright in months

Deon Bush is not coming to ND

Geno is our best shot, and we need 5 DBs this class at a minimum. We have 4. What's the problem again?

I am pumped about Prosise

I think that I know "what to make of this": This fellow's a ballplayer!! Note that Virginia Tech wanted him and they are one of the best DB-wise in the country. If Torrian Gray thought he was VT material, that should end the debate.

Congratulations and VERY welcome young man.

Suggest to all other ND DB offers --- train's about gone from the station. Do you want to play with studs like Shepard, Darby, Baratti, and Prosise and create a legendary defensive backfield or not??

I think this commitment definetely came because CJ didn't want to get left in the cold. We are his best offer and he has had us on top of his list from the second he got his offer. He is very wise to jump on the opportunity considering the amount of DB's we are in the mix with.

That being said, I really like this kid. Great speed (4.4), great size, and most of all... great desire to be the best. That is the kind of kid we are looking for. Stars be damned.

He's a perfect fit for our team.

I love it when we offer a kid, and he commits quickly.

It's sorta like winking at a girl and getting the tell-tale smile.

Welcome aboard son. You're Irish. The others aren't.

BTW, 8 recruits, 8 different states.

(I have this year's New Mexico recruit living within 10 miles of me right now. ND just doesn't know it yet...)

Uh oh...Do the rest of us think that Johnny being so nearby is a good or a bad idea??

Gotta love the states we are pulling from too. MD/VA, FL, CA, NC. This is why we are ND and will NEVER join that Big 10 suckhole.
