there's no need to do it imo...we have the best uni's in America wear them every week!!

But we've worn about 20 different uniforms in our history.

Which ones are the best and the ones that we should wear every week? 2010 version?

I've always thought that these extended discussions about jerseys are kind of gay (not that there's anything wrong with that). Sounds like a bunch of teenage girls sitting around arguing about what's hot an what's not.

But, I will say that when I first saw these Michigan things, all I could think of was that they look like little toddler shirts with built in bibs.

I actually agree with you. I refrained from saying anything because I didn't want to get banned or something. I don't love them, but I could see them looking kind of cool in HD, actually.

I agree, they'll probably look much better (if these are the real ones) under the lights at night and with pads on.

I don't want to say a lot of us here have bad opinions on the uniforms, but there is a lot of laziness towards something like this, specifically bold striping like this which was common in the 1930's and 40's in many sports.

Especially for the more traditional fan bases (like ND & UM) we see striping like this and it's automatically terrible, but I don't look at it that way at all.

I think our gold flanks on the away jerseys from the early 2000's and Michigan's current yellow piping on their road jerseys is much worse than something like this.

There are plenty of uniforms in sports history that look great employing striping like this. Some great, others, not so much. This one doesn't look great, but not horrible either.

Allow me to reference an episode from the Wire in which Bunk and McNulty are staking out a suspect at his home, and Bunk makes a bunch of comments on the guy's suit and who it's made by.

(Paraphrasing):

Mcnulty: "You know what they call men who know those these kinds of things, right?"

Bunk: "Yeah...grown ups."

You guys are going to convince them to change. Try something like this....

"Oh, those are rad. UM style is so superior." wink, wink.

ND's will be revealed in June... unless they are leaked sooner

I wish ND wouldnt change a thing (to the UNI's, or the turf on the field). all due respect to ppl that like them, the shamrock on the helmet is a horrible idea. I didnt like the names on the back at first for bowl games, but after the HAW bowl, I thought it was a nice thing to do for the players, eventhough as a fan I dont really like it much. I'm down with names on the back for bowl games, but no shamrocks, and no yellow pants, etc. leave that to scUM's of the world.

that throw back that UM is doing looks like they are forcing the issue, just because other universities have done it. maybe its just marketing, i dont know. but nothing about those scUM throwbacks is appealing.

Are we seriously going to debate ND using alternate/throwback jerseys AGAIN? Can we stick to the thread topic please- UM's putrid jerseys? Thanks.

Michigan did wear a jersey with dark blue and yellow (I don't think maize was a color at the time) stripes back in 1891. You can see what it looked like here.

University of Michigan Wolverines football uniforms

Big stripes like a bumble bee and without the hugh block "M" on chest. Note the little "M" over the heart in the picture.

Keep in mind uniforms were pretty basic back in the 1890's and let's face it Michigan is more a fashion pirate than a trendsetter.

Princeton had orange stripes on black jerseys back in 1880 to go with their Tiger nickname. They also had a black helmet with orange Tiger stripes in 1935. Michigan didn't copy that until 1938.

That mockup is the brainchild of some Adidas designer whose been watching to much Project Runway. Adidas is trying to fool 100,000 Wolvernine fans into buying ugly jerseys to match their ugly headgear.

No truth to the reports that phork already has an order in. He's waiting for the RichRod Throwback Jerseys.

All I can think of right now is prison movies.
YouTube - ‪Weather Girls - It's Raining Men Video‬‏

I get the Michigan throwback uniforms to prison movies connection, but the progression to The weather Girls and "It's Raining Men" has me baffled. Can you explain so I can sleep tonight?

Is it that the uniform reminds you of prison and that prison gets you thinking about well endowed (both boobie and booty) women? Is it that prison reminds you of all the stories about the risk of incarcerated men picking up a bar of soap in the shower?

Or is it simply that you constantly think about slender young men dressed in colorful jock straps?

Neither. That sing was a referrence to drag queens, prisoners have been known to dress in drag.

Ahhh! Your trains of thought are as convoluted as mine. I liked that song. Now I'm not so sure.

I never saw that video. I thought the song was simply a "statement" by liberated women going toe-to-toe (groin-to-groin?) with men of a porcine persuasion.

I will now retreat to my Semi/Wannabe-Hip Old Fart Corner. Just don't expect my retreat to be a quiet one.

Power to the (prune eating) People!

They are hideous!! Like unbelievably bad... My eyes started to bleed!

A model of Michigan's jersey for Notre Dame game | Detroit Free Press | freep.com

Ok...I don't hate Michigan. I like beating them...and I get pissed when we lose to them. But my opinion has always been they are a proud program, and when we beat them it has meaning. So dare I say I have some respect for Michigan. If they were trying to channel Bo...they are going to get way more than they bargained for...I'm guesing he climbs out of the grave, walks to campus, and smacks the Snitzel out the genius that came up with this POS throwback...

Are they really going to wear those? If the coaching turnover hasn't taken a big dump on their recruiting and active roster...the thought of having to wear that might run off a couple current and future players.

The other part is...how do our guys not say something...I mean if I were 20, and someone came on the field with those...oh boy...

I understand. I knew I had reached full maturity when I could distinguish a Gucci from an Armani at 50 yards.

I hate scUM. You would too if you lived here at the Indiana / Michigan stateline where I do. It is a year round battle with scUM fans. You wont see the true scUM fans out there in Utah, if any at all. It's a whole different world over here.

Everyone I know who is a scUM fans is praying that this jersey is just the "first draft" so to say. And that their jerseys will be similiar, but that isnt the final jersey. It's an awful lot of fun for me to watch this.

You're not kidding. Everything about Michigan and the people who live there is wrong. Don't you hate it when they wander down here (lost, I am sure) in their rusted-out, smoke-belching, piece of **** cars and just get in the way clogging up the roads? You can always tell a Michigan driver long before you can see the license plate. Wish they would stay in their own God-forsaken hole of a state.

I have heard from the time I was a little kid that the original definition of a "hillbilly" in the old Webster's Dictionary had nothing to do with the south, but was a "Michigan dirt-farmer." Don't know if that's true or not, but it sure fits.
