I thought that after the Noor announcement, we all agreed that Riddi's powers were waning?

On the vertical --- who cares about the exact number?? Does anyone here doubt that he'll be skying over essentially anyone he ever plays against in a jumpball situation?

Daniels will probably get a lot of offensive reps, mainly because we need another tall target, and he's just .... well, REALLY good. TJ started last year as a freshman, so Kelly's not afraid. Admittedly Spring ball helped.

As to kick returns: if he DOES get that job then he's REALLY REALLY good, because we've got some bigtime candidates [esp., in my intuition, GAIII].

... IE robotics liked previous post so much it duplicated it. Flattering but inefficient.

But: to rationalize this new waste of electronic space: three cheers for Davaris Daniels!!!

I just want him to do this over and over and over again during his career at ND. Is that too much to ask?!

If Daniels eventually wins the starting job at the X position from TJ and/or we end up with 3 big/tall/ outside receivers in this recruiting class (no slot guy), does TJ move into the slot behind Riddick?

Best part of that clip? When he lowers his shoulders and knocks his own teammate out of the way as he jukes a defender.

I think I'd actually prefer TJ in the slot...but that's me.

He definitely profiles better as a slot receiver than on the outside.

We could use the depth at the Z spot too. Riddick and Toma only have two years of eligibility left, and really no one behind them.

If we can't get a quality slot receiver like Treggs in this class, it might be better to simply take 3 outside receivers and move TJ to the slot.

I would imagine GAIII could probably place a Riddick type role if we load up on outside receivers.

He no doubt has the skills for it. I think his height is likely to keep him on the outside, though.

Remember that Floyd even played the slot in several games. It is not about outside height v. inside shiftiness all the time with BK. He just tries to get all his best playmakers on the field, and put them in the best possible position to succeed. If putting Floyd or GAIII or whomever in the slot gives them and ND an advantage, he is going to do it.

Kelly wants tackle-breaking, can-take-it-to-the-house-from-anywhere receivers in the slot, and TJ Jones doesn't fit that mold. That's why he's on the outside.

This is a wild, uneducated guess.

I'm in your boat on this. Guess I am wild and uneducated too.

If that's true, it doesn't bode well for TJ remaining a starter with all the tall athleticism we have coming in at WR.

TJ seems to be a natural slot to me as well...if DD and GAIII come in and contribute this definitely gives us some flexibility at the wr position.

Lookout for GAIII at RB as well though...

Possible. Wouldn't be surprised to see it happen if we get hit with injuries at RB this year.

But again, looking at all the RBs we've offered this year, GAIII doesn't seem to fit the profile. Odds are probably good that he stays at WR.

Check his thread. ND coaches have talked to him about preparing to get RB reps in wake of depth issues. Could even be full-time.

We offered Drew Harris at RB, who has similar tangibles to GAIII. I guess 6'2'' isn't too tall for a RB in Kelly's eyes.

We definitely need the depth at RB more, but GAIII is one of only 2 WRs we picked up for 2011. Not sure how I feel about this. Ah well... in Kelly we trust.

We do seem to be getting a lot more interest from our WR targets than our RB targets.

Which is strange considering our big need is RB. I mean I understand why a receiver would want to play in Kelly's offense, but I would think RB attraction would be greater right now.

A common perception is that the spread is bad for RBs, and ND hasn't produced a solid RB in quite a while.

I'm not surprised RBs are skeptical of us, even with our inviting depth chart.

yes...we need a solid start out of Cierre and the O line to start to get some serious interest from the elite RB's out there...i think this will be enough to spark their interest a bit more if they see Cierre getting 20-25 touches a game.
