As many of you all, I was disappointed with the Navy loss. I don't think we should strictly put the blame on Weis, but we should put the blame on the team (overall). I'm sure that Weis has learned his lesson, that to move the ball on offense, you HAVE TO GET THE BALL TO GOLDEN!! Firing him is not the answer because you're running the risk of JC and Golden jumping to the NFL. I strongly believe that JC's decision on whether to stay or goes is going to be based on Weis' future. Plus, what other coach is out there that can just come in and resurrect the team. A change of coach is just going to set us back another 2 or 3 years. And then, when the new coach wins, everyone's going to be saying "he won with Weis' players", the expectations are going to be set so high yet again and we'll be back to the coach "being on the hot seat". I've seen improvement from the past 3 years, 3-9, 7-6 and now 6-3 so far. If we can hopefully win out, that's 3 less loss' every year. If that trend would continue, then next year we'd be undefeated (I can only hope that happens). Credit has to be given to Navy. ND was looking passed them and looking forward to Pitt. Let's finish out the season strong!

Quick question: How could Robbie's catch be ruled a fumble? As soon as he went down and the ball popped out(and before Navy recovered), the ref blew the whislte meaning that the play had ended.

I knew Weis would try to get the ball to Michael FLoyd but, it was almost as if Weis thought if he didn't throw it to him Floyd was gonna leave or something, they could have taken the opportunity that Navy was looking for us to throw it to Floyd and we could have spread the ball out alot more....Oh my GOD man throw it to TATE!!!!

I would just like to point out that on each pass play jimmy has not made up his mind who he will throw it too. charlie isn't telling jimmy, hey you throw it to michael, ok. that is not how it works.

One thing Ive noticed consistently with Weis in 5 years......the team has been built on a sandy foundation. A "house of cards."

The consistent ingredients of Weis teams has been a great quarterback, and 2 great receivers.

Quinn, Samardija, Stovall.

Clausen, Tate, Floyd.

Missing has been stout defensive lines and stout offensive lines. A reliable running game, glaringly poor special teams yet never the focus for some reason.

I also noticed he has had great tight ends that will disappear for half the season seemingly.

I notice in recruiting we also seem to be 5 deep at skill positions but struggling to get a single O lineman and any interior defensive lineman.

I always thought you build your team from the trenches on out. It seems like Weis has been making the frosting before he bakes the cake. I dont know if anybody agrees with my theory but it seems like a trend.

I think if they go the former NFL coach route Gruden is the one that makes the most sense. With the personality and energy he brings to the table he seems like he could end up being a Pete Carroll type of coach. He does seem like he would be a pretty good fit for the college game because of this. I think the only issue would be if he would want to or not. He will most certainly get offers from NFL teams for this coming season, but with that being said if he shows interest in ND I would certainly not mind it at all.

Weis is a good recruiter, and Willingham couldn't recruit. What does it matter, if you are 8-4 with the most talented team or 8-4 with the least talented team. Weis is an excellent offensive coordinator as he was in New England, There are a lot of great offensive coordinators that never put it together as a head coach, the same can be said about a lot great defensive coordinators. Does this mean this is the case of Weis? I am not sure, I keep hoping he will put it all together. But I must admit the evidence is there and has been mounting, that it is exactlt the case.

We score a lot of points, we would score more, if the defense stopped someone and got the ball back sooner. If We had a defense we would probably average near 35-40 points a game by having an extra 7-10 minutes on offense.

Yes, I like Weis, but I love ND.

If we fire Coach Weis (and I mean IF), we need someone proven at the college level. We can't afford to have someone learning about recruiting and coaching college players on the fly. Gruden is a comodity with NFL experience with no experience at the college level. Sound familiar? Name any other college coach and I will listen to your arguments, but please stop with the names like Gruden, Cowher, et al. If Weis is let go, we need a COLLEGE coach who knows recruiting and can develop talent and has proven he can do so.

Its really very simple. If you were AD of another big school, would you hire Weis right now after seeing his tenure at Notre Dame? Nope. So, why on God's green earth should he remain employed here? It makes absolutely no sense. Clausen, Tate, and Floyd wont be herte for ever and can you imagine when we dont have a QB with the talent of Jimmy running the show and Weis still as head coach? We're right back at a 3-4 win season. Weise has at least 6 players on offense that will go in the 1st round of the draft...not to mention the top pick in Clausen and look at our results. It wont always be this good talentwise. And you still want Charlie running the show? lol That is insane.

I think he should get one more year if the team pulls out a nice finish with a bowl win over a pretty good opponent, such as Miami in the Gator Bowl. If the team tanks toward the end this year, I may be off the fence and on the fire Charlie side.

He has gotten great recruits and we can see the Clausen class as the example on offense. If we fire him we run the risk of killing the recruiting once again and having to endure more rebuilding years. I'm up in the air right now but we need to see the rest of the season to evaluate, in my opinion.

Well, youre where I was a year ago. I started piecing together the evidence and you know what I figured out? Hes a fraud.

He is a offensive coordinator that makes us all think the best is yet to come because we love watching passes. Wow, look at all those passes. Wow 350 yards passing. All those weapons and stats.

It has made us forget that the defense is terrible. Terrible. ranked in the 100's. Special teams are terrible. Nobody ever talks about the droppoff in special teams play at Notre Dame. Remember when guys would return punts and kickoffs for TDs? Now that only gets done to us. Punters both cant kick 30 yards.

Running game has been a joke. Somebody argued with me that 3.7 yards a carry was respectable and did so in a serious manner. We couldnt run on Navy. Our line was 60 lbs per man bigger and we ran for 60 yards.

Weis builds 3 man teams. QB and 2 receivers. Did it with Tys players, did it with his players.

He does most things right on the offensive side of the ball, I mean look against navy they had over 500 yards of offense, you should win with that kind of output. Even the running game has improved this year Allen is averaging 4.9 yards a carry, Hughes 4.7 and riddick 6. iI even think he has recruited some good defensive players that are improving like Flemming, Teo, KLM, Filer looks good when he plays, etc. What has killed is the lack of DTs, that was pretty evident against navy, and the defensive game planning is suspect at best, and yes part of that is on him for his selection of DCs.

On a side note I completely understand where the mods are coming from, if they do not keep everything clean the site would be ruined.
