Doesn't really matter. Bottom line is that he is fast. But a 4.22 is almost surely not "accurate." Ronald Darby is the best evidence against Marshall running a true 4.22.
While you can't trust reported 40 times, track times are very quantifiable. I was an all-district sprinter in HS with my main event being the 55m dash and ran at the same events as Darby being from the DC area. Ronald Darby is an elite track athlete who ran a 6.28 55m dash. That time is mind-blowing. For reference, the American record for professional sprinters in the 55m dash is around 6.0 seconds.
So Darby, who with training and development could maybe be a world-class sprinter, is clocked at running a FAT 4.31 40 yard dash. The chances of Marshall being .1 faster than Darby (which is huge in terms of relative speed) is slim to none.
Also another side note, I'm pretty sure Darby had the fastest 55m dash time in the nation as a junior. At least that's what I heard through the grapevine.
The meter to yard conversion is roughly 1.09 yards/meter.
55 meters is not the same as 40 yards.
Marshall may be quicker than fast. He could very well smoke Darby off the line.
Best life story: I ran a 4.69 40. (Best time I ever had. Consistent 4.7 guy.)
My best buddy ran a 4.5. I always ran against him.
In ten yards, he was my bitch.
He was my mike, and I his will.
I was "quicker." To this day he admits it.
He played for UTEP. I flirted with walking on at NMSU. (and then I dropped out of my first semester.) He starred in DIII Nebraska after leaving UTEP prior to tearing his achilles.
I'll agree, speed is king. But quick is great and translates well on the field and the 40 is a great measurement not necessarily relevant to track.
FYI: Keith Marshall, soon to be 5-star RB, was visiting Gainesville this weekend. RT @Truthh4 not really feeling it..

What a great post. I love this!
Is it possible for Keith to get faster in college?
Or has he hit a terminal velocity, in which humans can no longer continue to run faster?
