Deion Walker: Can he become a real player?!?!?

I have heard some very positive things about Deion's attitude (much like Rack Em has reported). The skinny on Walker is that he is modest and a real genuine nice guy. He has not seized the day so far, but he has the skills. BK said he hopes Deion is a late bloomer. I have a really good feeling that Deion Walker's time has come...he is going to emerge as a real weapon this year.

I heard it was something to do with his chicky also. Shaq Evans is on campus this week, maybe someone can talk him into coming home again.

Kelly went out of his way to pump up Deion Walker during the PC. This is his make or break year and if his work ethic has changed, he could be big time.

Guys,
I am rooting so hard for Deion this spring. I hope that he totally breaks thru. For him personally, the Floyd situation has totally opened the door.

DEION, SEIZE THE MOMENT!!!!!!!

I would love to see a line-up of Deion, Danny Smith and Riddick to start the season. That puts size and speed on the field. Then use TJ on 4 WR downs. That has the potential to be a dynamic group if Floyd is missing.

Well obviously Floyd is a none issue to start the season... Riddickulous, by virtue of his name, has Theo completely screwed and he will obviously suck... now if Riddickulous changes his name to "TJandTomaAreTheShizzle" then they too will suck and we'd have a possiblity of Walker stepping up...

but by then Riddickulous will prob change his name to "WalkerIsMyHero" and Deion will break his leg...

Wow how did i miss this thread. Of course Deion can be a player, the question is will he. We will see because he is in the 2 deep right now and sorely needed. I am not as worried about the starters as they have all shown flashes (Goodman, TJ, Theo) but we need more than 3

Any positive change in Deion can only help. He will obviously not fill the Floyd-void but if he can tap into some of that potential he could REALLY keep the offense dynamic.

Quoted from FWJG:

Senior-to-be receiver Deion Walker has been one player who has elevated his game the most from last year, according to the coaching staff.

Smith said he also sees a stronger commitment to football from Walker.

"He has really turned it up in the weight room and offseason running," Smith said. "In practice, you can definitely tell the difference in Deion. He's been doing a lot of good things."

If you guys hadn't read the post I made in the saturday practice thread I talked about what I saw from Deion during the friday practice. He's getting plenty of looks in practice. They're giving him his shot. He just has to take it. Coach Kelly said that he's questioned whether Deion truly loved the game. Well maybe he is just now realizing that he may miss it so he will try harder. Just some thoughts.

Deion Walker

Deion Walker

As we all know, Walker was highly regarded as a WR coming out of highschool. Since then, he's basically been an enigma at ND. We heard a lot of praise from Kelly early in practices about Walker's dedication and hard work paying off, as he was impressing Kelly. When we assumed Floyd would miss games, it really seemed that Deion might finally have the chance to show why he was such a highly regarded recruit. Now that Floyd isn't going to miss any games (presumably), does this officially shut the door on Walker's chances of making an impact? Has anyone heard through articles, interviews, etc, how Deion's doing in practices? I sure hope he can still be a player.

I think in his most recent interview, Charley Molnar said Deion has plateaued in practice. Basically all this talk about him being changed player/person is not all it's cracked up to be. Old habits die hard I guess

He looked distracted in practice today... if that's any indication of what Molnar meant by "plateauing" then I wouldn't expect to see much out of him.

Don't we already have a thread about Deion? I an starting to sound like Jason, but I don't know if we need a new thread for every thought.

No offense, just sayin.

Yeah we've had a million threads about Deion and frankly it's getting old. Look fellas, he's working his *** off. Don't doubt his work ethic. Let things play out and we'll see what happens in the fall. I talk to him a lot and I can guarantee these things.
