Keith is planning on attending Junior day. Not set in stone but the staff likes their chances

He must mean the spring game.

Awesome. Having him here with Darby bodes very well for us (assuming good weather). They seem to talk a lot and if we can make a good impression on both that will go a long way.

I feel like this is a guy who Kelly just looks at his coaches and says, "Let's go get 'em boys!"

Is he going to visit? Seems like he is visiting everywhere except ND. Was at Georgia and Auburn this weekend.

Georgia, Auburn, Florida, Florida State --- jeez --- add Alabama, LSU, USC, UNC and get a full set of pay-for-play criminals. Hope that he is a basically good person with a strong family advice group looking out for his best total life interests. And, maybe all the garbage the others present will be in stark contrast to what we present, so it will be Notre Dame and the "others".

Realistically, what are our chances with this kid? Anyone with a subscription to the pay sites have any insight on his interest level with ND?

Rest assured, we have a fighters chance with both Marshall and Darby. I would be SHOCKED if we did not get an elite RB in this cycle. I think our depth chart speaks for itself and I'm convinced our coaches will be out there pounding the pavement.

Slightly OT, but Cierre Wood has 3 years left, right? Whether he has 2 years or 3 years makes a big difference on how much another "whiff" on big time prospects might hurt us.

Cierre Wood is LEGIT!

I would take him over any prospect regardless. There will be 2013 recruits that will fill the void, and the Cams are both great.

This kid is a wish.

I agree that these kids see the pressing need for a RB in the coming future for ND. Gray is gone after this year - Cierre has 2-3 left - and Roberson just went down with a knee injury. Who know what he will be like when he comes back (fully recovers or isn't what he use to/could be) Also, who knows what is in store with McDaniel where he will be.

I have a high optimism for Marshall to come to ND. Especially since he is making the trip for the B/G game presumeably. Add in Darby as a 1-2 punch commitment. Excited to see what happens right before during and after the Spring Game to see who makes the right decision and commits.

I'll never root harder for someone to not become a star than Justice Hayes. It would really hurt to watch him become a NFL-caliber back.

It happens every year bro. So get used to it. We win some, we lose some...

I'd take Lynch, Tuitt, and Ishaq any day of the week.

Why is everyone so pessimistic today? Did I miss the memo?

I understand your first point and agree with your second point. But I think this situation is a little unique because of where we are with RB depth and the fact the kid switched to Michigan when, in retrospect, it seems like such an odd thing considering by the end of the year they were in much worse shape than we were.

Its not like we would have been forced to go without Lynch, Tuitt and Ishaq had Hayes not flipped, so while I agree with that sentence, I think it is a slightly flawed way of looking at it (and I'll save you the trouble, I know your point is that we managed to hold/steal those guys and we lost Hayes, and that is a better result than the other way around. I just look at each situation individually, and I think the Hayes thing stinks.)

None of us really know why he flipped. There is obviously more to the situation then what we know as fans. It doesn't make sense from our perspective, and I understand it has created a lot of bitterness, but we don't know the circumstances. Let's please just stay away from the Hayes talk.

I thought we did know why he flipped. Didn't his mommy not get enough attention from the staff at one of the games they attended?

He came for a game and didn't get the attention he was looking for. At this time many people also thought we were on the inside track for Huggins and Carlisle. There were all kinds of articles out there about it and the coaches straight up told Hayes they were going to keep recruiting other guys. So after getting no love at the visit he felt insecure, got all angry pants and then flipped to Michigan.
