whatever it was...must have been double what ND had :(

hahaha... in all seriousness... Brian Smith on ISD called January the "month of the bagman" for a reason. When someone up and leaves a school he seemed dead set on.... well, there are lots of reasons and it doesn't mean someone is on the take... and I really REALLY doubt Tuitt was... but it does happen. See Cameron Newton's "mysterious" defection to Auburn... and then months later all the stuff comes out about his dad.

First I was shocked to see him commit to us right after he came up...kind of made me think he pulled the trigger too fast and didn't look around..hence his recent visits and outcome...for me personally i thought he was a done deal once lynch and ishaq committed because they can see that they can be dominant together in a few years....i wish HS kids would understand that college is about growing up and that it is the start of their adult lives and if that means moving away from home then so be it...he's missing out on a great experience up in SB...wish him the best and hope he pulls a lynch and reconsiders.

Tuitt decommitted from ND for one reason. He will now commit to GT only to flip back to ND later in hopes to catch up to Lynch's thread views and replies. Now that Lynch is on campus, Tuitt thought this was his best opportunity to seize the moment. See you soon Tuitt.

This facebook nonsense is just out of hand. And if anyone thinks we "don't need" a player of Tuitt's caliber they are dumber than a rock. Let's just hope Kona keeps developing and Lynch can be an immediate impact player. EJ/Lynch + KLM/Kona in 2011 sure isn't bad... and Lynch/?? + KLM/Kona is solid for 2012... in 2013 you get Lynch/?? + Kona/?? so depending on who steps up on the team it seems we will again be looking to land a stud DE or two in the next recruiting cycle.

IrishLax,
Nice post all the way around.

Also if BK and staff "knew" Stephon was gone....why didn't they work on keeping him??

Wow. So sad. Still time to switch back to the Irish. Of Lynch and Tuitt, I'd like Lynch. I love to get Tuitt back though.

While I would love to have him, I'd take Ishaq and Aaron early enrolling over him anyway. I am sooo glad they have Chase coming in now to fill that void. This doesn't hurt at all. Now we will never hear about him again while he toils in the pathetic ACC. Too bad!

They could have been working on him. He also could have said, please give me some time to be by myself. And BK and the crew are respectable enough to do so. It seem like he didn't want to be here. ONce he went to Auburn and then to GT that was pretty obvious.

We all wanted this kid, lets not pretend that we didn't. I just wanted speed rushers. After watching the Sun Bowl live we just need more speed. We were and are a better team than Miami. But, we still need more speed. And we got it. I wanted Stephon, but really wanted Ishaq and Lynch. I mean really wanted them. I agree with the recent poster about Kona. I think Kona and Stephon are very similar. And I can't wait to see more from Kona next year. He is huge, and athletic.

Go Irish, Adapt and overcome.

Now can we end the Tuitt thread?

Unless there is actually under the table money involved (I'd assume very doubtful for a place like Georgia Tech... but who knows) I give us a realistic shot at getting him back with a good in home visit. Still unlikely, but definitely realistic.

Just imagine if Lynch stayed committed to FSU and Ishaq ended up at PSU...ND nation would be in total meltdown mode!

my knee jerk reaction when something like this happens is: oh no. what will we do? who do we have to fill this void. i know that it's not the end of the world and that we will be fine without him. but seriously, this is the nature of recruiting. we still have 5-6 DEs in this class. we will be fine.

I get back from class, and this?

Bummer dude, but we've still got a great class.

Here's wishing Tuitt the best of luck, and like others have said, we're pry not out of it yet.

I hope we can lead him back to the Bend. If not, I really do like this guy a bunch still. I hope he makes it to whatever he is trying to accomplish.

Most of those DEs aren't playing DE in our 3-4 system
But we have enough depth team wide at the position that I'm not overly concerned.

It would have been nice, and it still could be nice to have Stephon at ND.
But I feel Lynch has more upside and was the more important get...

Remember...we can actually all thank Stephon a good bit for getting in Aaron and Ishaq's ears at the AAAB

Wow...., I guess we kind of had an idea this might happen, but I honestly am shocked because once we secured Lynch and Williams who he played with at the AAAB I surely thought he would stay on board and be a part of something truly special. I guess we have seen alot this recruiting season and the biggest lesson we should all take is that it is not over until NSD, meaning anything is possible. I wish this young man the best of luck however.., he seems like a great young man, just really disappointed in the final outcome.

Ok, let me be serious. This is a huge loss. While we do have 4-5 true defensive ends in this class, none of them outside of Aaron Lynch compare to the talent this kid brings to the field. He is a stud, just ask Rivals who just granted him his fifth star. You don't just replace a five star stud with anybody. We will certainly be missed but it's all fair in recruiting. Just ask Michigan and Stanford how recruiting works as their numbers continue to dwindle. ND is in great shape with this class, but make no mistake, this is a loss.

Nobody should be saying anything negative about how valuable Tuitt is likely to be for whomever he plays for. At GT he'll probably make All-ACC before he's done, and terrorize the conference. At ND he'd probably have been first team All-American ultimately, and he and Lynch a longtime story in our lore. And he'd be "Justin Tuck" in the NFL, with the commercials to match. Still don't get this shift, though. What was he afraid of???

Maybe he wanted to be the Man, and the problem is he would have been one of the 3 Amigos instead. With Ishaq and Lynch he wouldn't have been the man.

You can't replace a 5 star, unless another 5 star comes in his place. And that isn't going to happen. But, this defensive haul is pretty special still. Lynch, Ishaq, Grace, Councel, Chase---WOW and that isn't even talking about Carrico, Rabasa, Brown, Atkinson, Otchka (spelling??), Hardy and Farley. Still wish he could have been part of this special happening.

Go Irish!

Again, should anybody have been surprised he took a visit to Auburn and then his home town school???? All after his verbal.
