This is exactly why everyone posts on here about their complaints and isn't making any decisions that affect the team.

I think special teams are one of the most over looked portions of the game of football.

Ask Frank Beamer about it's importance with his squad...

The kid is supposed to be an incredible long snapper. I understand the boards questions about it because we have another long snapper on scholarship. This year the Senior walk-on beat him out. If there is room, I say take him. I just hope he doesn't go to tattoo U.

To the nay-sayers: do any of you really think that this guy Brian Kelly who built this recruiting class suddenly turned into an idiot?? He can get defensive stalwarts; he can get offensive stalwarts; he can manage a team's systemics to a t; he can hire the right coaches from Diaco to Longo---but boy, when it comes to deciding whether or not to get a long snapper he is the worst decision-maker one can imagine?? I believe that when anyone has some [half-baked] opinion which diametrically disagrees with a decision that Kelly obviously has spent a lot of time thinking about, they should give themselves a long honest look in the mirror and say: "Am I really smarter than Brian Kelly??" If Coach wants this guy, then I want him.

Special teams is very important and If you have a bad long snapper guess what your special teams isn't very good.

You are so right as usual OMM...., I appreciate all of your comments because you always seem to have a level head about matters. I think all of us need to trust Coach Kelly and his staff and if they want a particular guy, then they need to go after them. BK and his staff are a hell of alot smarter about this stuff than we are.

I met Bryce and his family while they were on their OSU official visit (I was there with a relative of mine for his OV) and Bryce and family seemed to like it there very much. His father wasn't at his Notre Dame visit the previous day but then he flew in for his OSU visit. The family was great and Bryce seemed to be a great kid. We had a good time. He is indeed a great long snapper. If Tressel and Kelly believe in this kid enough to offer a scholarship then who are we to question those two fine coaches.

Top ranked Rubio Long Snapper Bryce Haynes will be making his college decision next week. It seems Harvard has stirred the pot nicely.

sounds like his scholarship might not be there anymore.....

????

And your basis for this is what? The commitment by Lynch or Ishaq?

Did I miss Kelly issuing a scholarship to another long snapper?

Many prospects handle the long snapping in HS but don't get the job done in Div 1. ND had both Cave and Wenger on the roster when Cowart was signed. So I don't see Martin's flip being a factor either.

Aside from ND, did Tressel, UNC, ARK, et al withdraw scholarship offers as well, leaving Harvard as the only option?

He got an offer to Harvard and frankly at this point he has a body size that appears better suited to wear and tear in the Ivy League than the Big 10. (Although that didn't stop Tressel, Kelly and others from recognizing his talent and hoping he will grow into Div 1 size.)

He's going to have to put on some weight to snap in college. His quick release won't matter when he's in pieces.

Clearly this kid is not going to a State School.....c'mon.....get real.....OSU and Arkansas......LOL that was funny...

He might still have his schollie, we will see but the odds are it was contingent on the number of kids they sign this year and two more spots just went this weekend so how many are realistically left at this point?? Also, take into consideration they probably will offer Ruffer a schollie. I can't imagine taking up two roster spots with long snappers for the next two years, that just seem silly. This is ND, not Alabama, ND honors a kids scholarship regardless if he ever sees the field......you can't have two of your 85 dedicated to snapping for 2 years, that seems silly......get one next year if they are so concerned at least that way 2 snappers are only a drag for 1 year.

According to Chris Rubio (long snapping coach), he is still trying to make a decision. Should come within a day or two.

I believe in Kelly and trust him to make the right decision, but this situation is still so bizarre to me.

I mean no offense to Bryce, he seems like a fine young man, but for real? I dont care if he can long snap 40 yards into a bucket. He is SOOOOO far away from having the measurables to actually line up as a center at the college level. While we anxiously wait for this kid to decide whether he takes a scholarship... we have to hope that the middle LB from Mater Dei decides to walk on? I just dont get it. If Bryce is wishy washy on us, I say that Kelly should hand his offer to Joe Schmidt.

Maybe Kelly told him that he had a conditional offer. That if some of the other offers decided to go elewhere he could have one but if one of the higher recruits came to ND then he would not have one. Maybe he is just waiting to see how the rest pan out to see if he can come to ND.
