There most likely wont be any back that runs the ball 25+ times in Brian Kelly's system. I believe they said Friday that no RB has ever run for over 1,000 yards in his system. He likes different kinds of runningbacks and will stick with whoever is hot at the time.

Nobody on this board has ever seen Cam play a college football game or even watched him go through a college practice so stop trying to be the judge of what he can and can't be. The kid has great hands out of the backfield and is very football smart in the way he helps protect the qb. Both of these are important things in our future offense. I hate when people say what a player can't do based on nothing. Let the kid get on campus and practice before we say anything.

In 2011 we will have
Cierre Wood
Jonas Gray
Cameron Roberson
Cam McDaniel
and possibly Amir Carlisle

If we pick up 2-3 backs in next years class we will be fine with depth. If we are going to talk about depth, we need to worry about the OL. I personally would take Troy Niklas, Brennan Scarlett, Wayne Lyons, or another defensive stud in this class. BK said this weekend that he needs to recruit defensive studs. He can manufacture offense and he has proven that. Almost all of his "featured RBs" have had high yards per attempt numbers. WE NEED DEFENSE.

If Savon comes then great but this class wont break if it doesn't happen. Cierre Wood has come a long way this year. Put some trust in this coaching staff and stop bad mouthing kids before they get on campus. If you were a good enough judge of talent and a smart enough coach you wouldn't be posting with other FANS on a chat board. RELAX bro..

.

Not true. Two of the three years he was at CMU they had 1000 yard rushers. He puts systems in place to get his best players the ball.

And i'm tired of internet coaches that think they know what they are doing.

First You are stretching it big time. Not one single person has mentioned an NFL hall of fame career, so stop making **** up to make yourself think your right.
Secondly... Who cares that he was offered at the end of a recruiting cycle??? Kelly and staff may have just discovered him the fact is you don't know how the offer came to be. And Just because a player isn't your #1 target it doesn't make him a ****ty player.

Also let me ask you... Have you watched Cam's footage??? Because I have and I don't see that much of a difference between him and Hayes except for 1*. Or did you not bother because he's only a 3* recuit???

I posted this is Cam's thread it came from someone who follows Texas football closely.
Also i think it's pretty crappy of you to dismiss an 18 year old kid before he even steps foot on campus. Hopefully he shuts you right the **** up

I'm not just basing this on stars, it's based on the conduct of the staff. When you get "your guy" you don't continue to recruit at the position. We got our tight end, and we pulled all offers to other TEs. We signed Cam, and then kept recruiting other backs hard. The staff isn't happy with just him, and the fans shouldn't be either.

We were recruiting other backs when we landed Hayes... The staff probably wants 2 backs

The staff knows that we need two RB's in this class. Does not matter who we had on the board. We are very thin at RB after this season. UNLESS, we are able to move Riddick back to RB because some other folks step up at slot WR.

I posted earlier in this thread that my brother, the olympic weight coach who knows a great deal about Texas high school football, raved to me about how lucky ND was to get McDaniel. He said that he could be as good as Craig James, and a similar back. {if you don't know how good James was look him up}. My intuition is that McDaniel is going to be terrific, and able to do anything we want of him. He, by the way, didn't just ride the back of the second best team in the top Texas division [one point off a championship go], but was that team's leader. I will welcome Huggins if he comes. I will also refuse to discount McDaniel's talent which I see as an elite steal for us.

Personally, I would not be even close to disappointed if we don't land Huggins. I'd much rather get Carlisle knowing that we already have Cam...Both of these guys give you plenty more options and versatility and allows you to pursue any elite RB in the class of 2012 should we decide to move these two to a slot receiver.

Carlisle would be fine too. This conversation just started with me saying we had to get someone else.

We need Savon badly, we must get a decent back this year. We can't just give up on the RB position this year.

I pretty sure you implied we don't have a decent back yet, which more then a few would disagree with. And since we are heavily recruiting Carlisle I don't think the staff hasn't given up on the position just yet. Either of the remaining backs would work at this point.

I would like to have Savon, but I would think Cierre, Jonas, and Cam R. would have something to say about him getting 25 carries a game...but if he can come in and earn that, he is special and I welcome talent any day!

You can get early playing time here aswell. Cam will be a slot guy for sure with alot of motion packages. Savon will be good to have when we are on the 3 yard line and can't get in the endzone.

I'd say he'd average about 18 carries a game at Notre Dame or Auburn as an UPPERCLASSMEN. There's no way he'll be the "guy" at either school and think he's going to get 20+ carries in the near future.

Rutgers though....

I have no problem with, and believe that, every recruit should pick the school that provides them with the best future. Playing time, NFL future, and education all vary in importance to each recruit. If involvement, early and often, is the most important to him I don't think ND is the place. Rutgers.

He will probably get the starting spot at Rutgers. And i know every one wants to play but you would think everyione wants to win and rutgers really isn't in the position to do that. And now TCU is coming to town looks that much worse.

It was reported on ISD that he cut his list down to 3. Anyone aware of those three? My guesses would be Rutgers, Auburn, and Notre Dame.

Savon is not coming to ND---the RU "hooks" are cutting deeper by the day.
He will be a Scarlet Knight.

Based on what? How do you know?

Im not saying we land Savon but stop posting FACTS that you dont know. You have no idea where Savon Huggins is going. ND has made enormous strides over the last few weeks.

I think if ND lands a RB it will either be Huggins or Carlisle, I can't see ND getting both. I see Huggins going to Rutgers with Schuler.

Carlisle is being recruited as a slot receiver, not a RB. Huggins would not be competing w Carlisle for PT. He will however be competing w Cam (both Cam's actually) for it.

Thats actually not correct. Amir has been told by the coaching staff that he will get his shot at RB. It is us as fans that believe he will wind up in the slot.

If it isn't correct, than why would you have posted exactly that 3 days ago in his thread? There are other posts in his thread (ND in LA) stating the same, that he was told by staff he would be put in the slot. Just saying.

He was originally told he would play the slot, but with Hayes decommitting they have since opened it up. He will be given a shot at RB as well.

Irish Man, you're going to need to ice your fingers at the end of the UA game. Between the updates there and input here, you've got to be winded. I really don't care where they line up AC if we get him, I just want us to get him. And on Cue (or is it Qeue, DShans?) AC catches a pass.

LOL I got PM'd by someone to keep them updated on the game because they didn't have television access. And I agree about Amir.

How does Quan Bray's commitment to Auburn play into Huggins' decision? Bray sounds like he could play CB rather than RB, but I'm not sure of Auburn's plans for him.
