Carlisle Offered by Notre Dame

I just texted back and forth with 2011 RB Amir Carlisle (Sunnyvale, Cal./The King's Academy). The 5-foot-10, 180-pound running back informed ISD that he was offered a scholarship by Notre Dame.

Carlisle said he will certainly be visiting Notre Dame, but it will likely be after the season. The King's Academy standout said Notre Dame is recruiting him as an athlete, with running back and wide receiver as his likely destination. The 5-10 speedster could also play cornerback at the next level.

Carlisle is currently a Stanford commit, but has always had strong interest in the Irish and has remained friends with several current Notre Dame commitments.

For the season, Carlisle has racked up 1427 rushing yards in only eight games. He has scored 15 touchdowns and is averaging 9.98 yards per carry. The King's Academy standout has added another 214 receiving yards and 3 receiving touchdowns.

sweet even if we lose the rest of the games but kelly's staff can keep this calss together i will be happy.

This recruiting will also put some priority in Savon Huggins. Hugg will need to decide if he wants to be an ND RB soon. I bet Kelly will only take one or the other.

Not necessarily. Huggins is a RB period. Carlisle is a little more versatile since he could slide out and play slot WR. If we start to get close to filling this class up he'll probably only take one, but as of now I think we take both.

Also worth noting, Stanford currently has 4 RB's committed. Carlisle is the consensus #1 of the four on Rivals, Scout, and ESPN. Could play a factor...

I like that we are recruiting him as an athlete and wouldn't mind seeing him at wide receiver. I think Huggins would understand that it is more competition he will have to face if we land both he and Carlisle. Don't forget about Hayes too.

Anybody think the staff will push harder with Carlisle? He could very easily fill the void Hayes left at RB and has shown the versatility to play in the slot if necessary.

I'd be putting the full court press on him. But what do I know about football, I just play Madden 2001 on my computer...

He is suppose to setup visit after his season concludes. I think ND, Maryland, and Cal. Should visit shortly.

My gut feeling with no facts to back it up... but I think when all is said and done there will not be 4 RBs heading to Stanford. I think we have an OK shot a Amir and a very good chance with Remound if we ever offer him. Not sure what the coaches don't like in Remound... maybe he just isn't a good fit for our offense.

Don't know that if we did offer Remound if he'd take it. He's visited more than a few times in hopes of garnering a scholly. I also think that they may like him better at DB instead of RB. He's as strong as an ox but does have good speed, I don't quite know the real reason as to why he's not been offered just throwing some 2 cents on the pile

Just watched his video. I don't know how stiff his competition is, but man can this kid fly. With him, Atkinson and Davaris Daniels we will have some serious up-and-coming play makers for a spread style offense.

I wonder if the coaches are pitching him as a true running back or as more of a Percy Harvin type hybrid.

I don't know how it works out there, but out here there is a HUGE difference between divisions and conferences as far as level of competition. There are also huge differences between the different regions.

I'm assuming there is a big difference between competition in LA and competition in Fresno... but again, I know nothing about competition in Cali so hopefully someone can shed more light on that.
