I know that many people have bashed Bob on here, but for the most part I have stayed away from joining the club. I can no longer do this. I tried to watch the Texas - KSU game this past Saturday night. He totally ruined it for me. The insight he provides is totally worthless.

I could almost sense that his partner in the booth was questioning some of Bob's comments. Plus, how can we all take a guy serious who's major accomplishment was starting the demise of ND in the 90's.

Further, a couple weeks ago I watched Davie as one of the so-called "EXPERTS" on ESPN U's show College Football Experts. He was involved in the discussion of, "What is wrong with ND??". After he took his usual potshots at ND, I was thinking to myself the following. Bob, if you are such a bleeping expert, why have you not coached as much as a Pop Warner team since ND????????? Because you are a flipping idiot and NOBODY would want you.

I am convinced that this guy has paid someone off at ESPN to keep him around. He just ruins any integrity that ESPN has in college football.

He is pretty bad. As a color commentator he really doesn't add much.

Putting aside his commentator and head coaching accomplishments, you can't argue with the results he got as a defensive coordinator. In fact, could be one of the biggest reasons the run n' shoot is dead -- his zone blitz schemes at A&M finally exposed Houston for what it was.

My favorite memory of Boob Davie:

Michigan State at Notre Dame, can't remember what year, but towards the end of his career. Injured player on the field. So quiet in the Stadium you could hear a pin drop. Then, out of a corner of the Stadium comes this shout: "DAVIE! YOU SUCK!" Man, that was funny.

integrity... ESPN...

I'm amazed that you actually put these words together, and implied ESPN had any whatsoever, especially when it comes to ND. When I hear Bob Davie talk about ND, I know he's a total *** hat, because he doesn't talk the way Lou and other coaches do--maybe it's because he got fired, but still, he takes shots, offers ****ty analysis, and is a total asshat.

Bob Davie: mediocre head coach, average media announcer, great defensive coach. A product of the Peter Principle, no better nor no worse than his actual accomplishments.

This is the best thread I could find for Bob Davie. It's pretty funny.

Bob Davie uses Texas Tech video as teaching opportunity

During a team meeting earlier in the week, New Mexico head coach Bob Davie showed his players video footage of Texas Tech true freshman Nigel Bethel punching a female in the face during a pickup basketball game in late June.

Davie wanted to use the video to drive home an important life lesson to his own players.

During the Mountain West Conference media days, Davie described to CoachingSearch.com the importance of creating a player-driven team on, and just as importantly off the field.

Davie said, “I just showed the Texas Tech situation to our kids. We’ve got this thing “E” -- the event happens that you don’t control. The only thing that you control 100% of the time is your response to that event and it becomes an outcome. You either respond above the line or below the line and we’re teaching you and training you to respond above the line.

“I showed it and showed here’s how fast that event happened and here’s how much time that kid had to respond. And he responded below the line. I don’t know all the details, but that was a female. The event happened. You have that [snaps] much time to respond. And then I took the headlines of everything that happened based on that one-second response: ‘Felony, Kicked Out of School, etc’ and put those up on our board. That’s what you do every day (as a coach). With these kids, events happen. How do you get us (our players) to respond above the line to events and make the right decision because there is an outcome that will affect the rest of your life?”

Set to enter his third season as the Lobos head coach, Davie described an important element that goes hand-in-hand with decision-making outside of football.

He said, “It’ll never leave coach-driven, but it’s more player-driven now where the players have taken ownership in this. I do see that. A big part of that player-driven piece that we’ve worked through with young guys... Some guys don’t take that player-driven piece real well. Who is allowed to drive it? My deal is that it’s inclusive in that every player on the team can be a leader as long as you’ve made an investment in the program and you’ve done the right things of what it takes to be a leader.

“The dynamic of a player getting on a player is what we’ve really worked hard talking to our kids about. We’ll get them over there between the lines, but off of the field (is equally important).”

It’s all about educating young men on the importance of making good decisions and the impact of one careless decision.

Davie concluded, “Players have a hard time leading each other away from the football facility. It’s like ‘Who are you to tell me?’ That’s hard to do. Guys are just uncomfortable doing that off the field and that’s something we’ve really tried to work on.”

Texas Tech initially dismissed Bethel from the program, but athletic director Kirby Hocutt has reinstated the true freshman out of Miami, although he will be suspended for the first three games on the 2014 season.

In a statement, Hocutt noted, “Every decision related to this case has been the right one at that particular time based upon our principles, student-athlete code of conduct and team rules. As I continued to work with Coach Kingsbury and Coach Whitaker, we looked at the totality of the situation and have arrived at this decision. Two talented young people made a mistake, have shown remorse and learned some very valuable life lessons.”

If he is found guilty, you know the story will have to mention that he is a former Notre Dame coach even though it won't have a thing to do with it.

First off, WHO CARES?

Secondly, it is a fact that he was a former ND coach. So, again, who cares if they mention i?
