Vision Quest was good, but for my money, nothing beats Over the Top!

This will bet the boys fired up!

Is this about ND Vs Stanford or about movies? If its about movies, the expendables was pretty goood. If its about a football game, we need to stop the run and cause some turnovers while not making any ourselves.

When was the last time our defense scored? We will need to win the special teams and somehow the defense needs to get points

Check out the upset of the week

I really hope that is what happens. We need to keep it close early. If the Cardinal score on their first few possessions and we can't force them to punt or get some turnovers in the first half, it could get ugly. If we have to dig out of a big hole early, it will be very tough to come back on their defense.

Hopefully we can keep this game close and win it in South Bend. It is getting time that we finally start winning the close games. I think this one will be a good game and it will be close. The question is this...., Can we finally win a good close one against a good team?

Seen him many times

Seen him many times

I live just down the road from The Farm, so I watch a lot of Cardinal football. They have a stable of good backs, no Heisman winners probably, but plenty good enough. Much more explosive this year than last year. Gerhart was great, but this year's offense is so much more diverse and explosive. Much harder to defend.

Did you see Gaffney? Amazing. Dude only really played the first half. 7 rushes for 76 yards - 10.9 average. If we aren't careful and disciplined, he can torch us running from behind that offensive line. He is a different back than Toby, but he can break some big gains.

Yea, I always got the impression last year that they over-used Gerhart and it became almost a weakness of the team. Don't get me wrong, he was great (and lord knows we couldn't stop him), but it seemed like Stanford became especially dangerous when they added a little lightning to go with his thunder.

DUDE!!! C'mon! You're making me even more nervous about this game than I already am. You're supposed to tell me, "Hey GO IRISH!!!, the Cardinal players are not that good. You are WAY off base, you moron. The Irish will be fine. No worries!"

Just kidding. Great info. My sister went to Stanford back during the John Elway days - she even worked the training table for the football team at the time. I love Palo Alto. Great area. Maybe we can have a beer next year when I come up for the ND game!

In todays jargon I'll start be saying 'I loves me some Fight'en Irish of Notre Dame' (and always will). But they cannot win this game so be prepared for 1-3. The are going to get pounded by the run game and then gashed by the pass. Stanford is another level right now. It hurts to say that and I look forward to the day when Notre Dame stands alone again at the top but this weekend there will be people calling for heads to roll. Just be patient as this coach will do the job in the long run. Just not this weekend as Harbaugh will run up the score-he's a bad boy you know.

Who did they beat?

What is their injury report?

Who has tested their defense?

Who has running backs that compare to Robinson, Bell, etc.?

Did anyone else see that the holder's knee on the fake field goal, was down when he received the snap? (Play over!)

Hey Bogtrotter what is the ruling on the knee being down I never thought of that, surely they didnt miss that too as I think your allowed to do that on a fake. I have never seen a zebra bring back a fake because the holders knee was down. Must be a continuation thing. But the rule does state knee down play over, like a kick off or catch of a punt. Maybe it is the fact that he is starting with his knee already down. Good point.

-4.5 is line... not -bajillion. There is a good chance we win this game. Do I think it's probable? No. But we at least have a good shot.

QB pressure + turnovers + oodles of points = an Irish win. Not as inconceivable as most people are making it sound.

The reason is because of Rule 4-1-3(b, exception). This rule creates the exception to the ball being declared dead when a player's knee is down touching the ground. The exception applies only to the HOLDER when an offensive player kicks or simulates kicking the ball for a place kick (Field Goal). By rule the ball may be advanced, kicked or passed.

But here is the thing: The kicker needs to kick or simulate kicking the ball. He was outta there! I cant call that a good fake, what do you think?

Hope for a Notre Dame win against a quality opponent. I say the game will be a close one that we can win. Just hope we can find a way to do it.

Hey, look at Stan's first three games: Div II Sac State, UCLostA, and WF. Now look at there next three: ND, Oregon, SC. I like who they are playing after us. (Only one at home). Steele picked us for the upset of the week.

No time like now boys. The world is against us - nobody believes we can do it.

An upset of Stanford and Harbaugh would be a great thing!

It is time to believe .....and to execute and win.

GO IRISH!

I don't think this is as much a David vs Goliath as many are saying. Turnovers will be the key. If the offense can move the ball freely and have the defense steal one here and there, this is very possible. I'm saying ND 38, Stanford 31.

Damn, I'm coaching tomorrow. We were supposed to play early but they changed the game to 3 o'clock, right in the middle of the game for us west-coasters. DVR will be in full effect, but this is the first time EVER that I actually want to know the score of the game before I watch the game on the DVR (When I have to coach, I always tell the parents not to tell me the score of the ND game no matter what...I ignore all texts, phone calls and sports radio until I get home and watch the game as if it's live).

I just can't go through another heartbreak loss. It friggin' kills me and ruins my sports week (I avoid listening to too much sports in case they bring up ND, which they inevitably do). I'd love nothing more than an ND upset, and damn it, the closer it gets to game time the more I believe it could happen. Why do i do this to myself????

Let's go Irish...beat them damn trees to a pulp!!!!

In Kelly I trust...
