Thanks for the update Polish. I figured we would have heard something about his visit if it had happened.

I dont really see a verbal off of this visit. But TT or BGIF, do you have any info on what the weeks delay was?

What "weeks" delay?

Look back in the thread Terry posted he was coming sometime in August. He did that with almost 3 weeks to spare.

Perhaps the coaches asked him to come now to see practice. Seems more logical than coming while Kelly was on vacation, doens't it?

Perhaps his dad (or whoever brought him) had to work around a work schedule. What does it matter?

What's significant is he made the trip and it was on his dime. His effort. Not a prospect just visiting to see a marquee game for free.

Usuallly there are no reports while a recruit is on campus. When Terry, TPI, NDinL.A. anyone else has an update it will be posted.

According to Steve Wiltfong at ISD...

"Four-star defensive end will visit Notre Dame for the first time on Aug. 5th."

yyyyyeeeeaaaaahhhhhhh

I think this is what Irish Man3 was referring to BGIF. I made the same mistake as well. But yeah they're aren't any reports about a visit until a recruit leaves campus.

Thanks. I was just looking for any kind of information on why the delay. If there was anything specific or just nothing at all.

Honestly, I don't think we have space for another DE in this class. PTime for a RB, another WR, and some secondary help.

Im pretty sure we are recruiting him at the OLB position. And with a guy at 6'6/220 and running a 4.4 in his 40, I dont think you pass on him. He has unreal talent and an amazing build for an OLB.
With Ray Drew and Tuitt as more than longshots, I think this could be one last pickup on our defensive front seven. I agree we still have needs in the secondary but I just dont think you can pass on a guy with this skill set.

4.4???

Perhaps he's the surprise recruit for the secondary. He'd be as fast or faster at 4.4 than any ND verbal so far. Look out Taylor Mays!

Rivals lists him at 4.65
Scout at 4.76

I didn't find any article in this thread citing 4.4. Can you provide one?

I say he runs a 4.4 and that's final BGIF.. :)

That irishdaily link doesn't work and yes, I think we have like 4 or 5 slots left. So we have some room for another DE or 2 with a safety and DB.

ND is recruiting pretty much all elite guys right now, or guys in a major position of need (i.e. secondary). Ishaq is an elite guy, and ND is definitely recruiting him. And he really loved the visit; it really helped us out. He doesn't have a list of favorites yet, but I'd imagine ND and Bama (he visited them on his way home from ND) will be on that list.

Oh, and he was too tired to make his scheduled visit to FL, per ISD. So I like him even more now!

The people I've talked to that know Ishaq say that there is no way he's a 3-4 DE. Doesn't have the build to put on that kind of weight and stay quick, fast and athletic. At least the people I talked to that know Ishaq from coaching against him say he's very similar to the Miami Dolphins 4-3 DE, 3-4OLB Jason Taylor and that he's max playing weight is at 255-60 lbs.

He's build like basketball player and those types usually are usually WR if they play football.

Great news! More athletes on the defensive side baby. Wonder where he stands with the other 2...both are big programs: Bama plays big boy defense and Penn State has LOTS of room in their class as they haven't picked up many commits thus far.

Bama and ND play the 3-4; not sure about PSU. It's unbelievable that PSU is doing so poorly thus far on the recruiting trail. Maybe Joe Pa is hurting their recruiting efforts.

Doing some chores, so I just listened to a podcast interview with Mike Farrell from Thursday. He said the Penn State is recruiting his as a TE/DE, to the point where he could play both. He also talked about how poor Penn State is recruiting (4 commits!!!!), and that they've gone head-to-head with Pitt 6 times this year and have only 2 commits to show for it, which is abysmal for them.

Farrell mentioned ND as a place that Ishaq really liked (this was before Shaq's announced top 3). He also mentioned that Ishaq had a family tragedy a couple of months ago, and that could sway him to stay closer to home, as family tragedies often do.

Its great to be in his top 3. As far as ESPN, Penn St. has been listed as his favorite since the begining. Hopefully we get an OV, and hopefully we put a good product on the field this year.
