Amen!
Hey guys, go to Michigan's official football website:
University of Michigan Official Athletic Site
Go to the Countdown to Kickoff Day 14 video. At 0:45, Austin White has 2 guns on the counter in front of him! Talk about packing some heat. For a coach and players' dinner? wow
Apparently they're pellet guns. Pfft.
I wonder why Michigan fans say we have a "new quarterback, new offense, new defense" and cite those as reasons they'll win, when they have...
1. A quarterback who, so far in his career, is
14-31 for 188 yards with 2 TDs and 4 INTs. Denard Robinson was
0-4 for 0 yards with 2 INTs against Eastern Michigan (0-12, 107th ranked defense). He's a glorified running back/wide receiver playing quarterback, IMO. He looks good in practice, but aren't quarterbacks supposed to look good against that Michigan defense?
2. A new defensive scheme, the 3-3-5 (a glorified version of the 3-4)
3. A defensive coordinator who... A) Coached up the 81st ranked defense in 2009 and B)
Has never ran the 3-3-5 before
Who has the advantage? We do. We are...
A) At home. The crowd will be more electric than usual. We have a new coach. We have a new offense. We could be electrified after a win over Purdue.
B) Loaded at the wide receiver and tight end positions. They have no experience in the secondary. Added to that, we have a 6'3, 227 pound receiver (Floyd), a 6'6", 260+ pound tight end (Rudolph), another 6'6", 250+ pound tight end (Eifert), and a 6'5" wide receiver (Kamara) who will see significant time against the Wolverines. Up against a smaller and much inexperienced group of corners? Look out. Redshirt soph Roy Roundtree was apparently broke free up the seam deep several time in their open scrimmage earlier this week. Roundtree is not Floyd. We'll probably get a couple of big plays over the top with Michael.
C) We go up against the 3-3-5. That's three down linemen. They have a fourth who, much like Darius Fleming and the Cat linebacker in our defense, kind of acts as a linebacker-defensive end hybrid (sophomore Craig Roh, 238 pounds and pretty damn good). Michigan fans get excited for Mike Martin, nose tackle, but the guy didn't do squat against us last year and unless our interior line is remarkably bad, he shouldn't be much of a threat in the grand scheme of things (he may pressure Dayne a couple of times, I think he's good enough). I'm confident we'll be able to run on Michigan. We could last year (Allen averaged nearly 7 yards per carry and finished with 139 yards), and they had Brandon Graham. They'll be in a pickle defensively. If we can run AND throw, what are they going to do? Unlike Charlie, you won't see Kelly abandoning the run if it's working (Purdue, anyone?). They bring the linebackers up and we hit 'em deep with Floyd. I'm confident in our offense.
D) If we get a couple of early stops and score on all of our early drives, without our no huddle we could be up by two touchdowns early. Michigan will be in a hole and will be forced to throw the football. Let's hope this happens.
It's the defense that worries me. Can we handle Denard Robinson's explosive running ability? If not, we'll have a long, long day and another close shootout.
Do we have the speed and the fundamentals to handle Robinson? I hope so.
