I'm pumped about this!
One of the best college football rivalries of the 80's.
We need to make some new Catholics vs Convicts shirts......

Damn phork you beat me to it. I'm very excited this would be awesome to see let's hope this happens. This gives us 3 big time games in 2012 if this follows through. We'll have this one, at USC and I believe we're at Oklahoma also.

I'd be amped if this goes down. I think if I could pick anybody out there to play it'd be them... not to mention that my twin is a huge Canes fan.

They are an improving team loading up with talent and could be an exciting set of games if Kelly and co get this ball rolling. Should definitly be the game of the week

If it is for increasing our presence in Florida recruiting, I am all for it. For the sake of "rivalry"? Meh...

I mean, most of the players on either roster probably weren't even alive the last time these two teams played so where is the rivalry going to come from? Fans like us that remember the Lou Holtz/Jimmy Johnson era? I don't know. Just doesn't hold the same significance for me as it did. I am enjoying the drama that is unfolding with a team like MSU or even the Purdue or Pitt teams give us quite a fight. Live in the now, I say! I would rather see us add exciting teams like Boise State to our schedule or, selfishly, more West Coast teams.

Just my opinion.

GoodGawdAhmighty NO! Watching short spurts of games played on that GawdAwful blue turf gives me a migraine. A quarter triggers flashbacks. I suspect that viewing an entire game would trigger a grand mal seizure that might lead to my tragic, early death. Fer Chrisake don't subject me to this!

Maybe I'm dating myself, but I'm excited about it. Plus, I was dating a girl form UM when the rivalry was alive and well!! It's better than scheduling Western Michigan. I can agree, though...more West Coast teams. Just wish the upcoming ASU game was here in PHX instead of Dallas.

Actually they said on espn that Randy Shannon hasn't had a player get arrested in the four years that he's been the coach there. Which is more than we might be able to say about Kelly if Ragone gets bustedd for his weed posession

isn't Miami a catholic school?

Update....

Dates set for Notre Dame-Miami rivalry renewal - Chicago Breaking Sports

The renewal of the college football rivalry between Notre Dame and Miami will indeed take place at Soldier Field, and we now know when: Oct. 6, 2012.

A Notre Dame source confirmed the date to the Tribune on Wednesday, as well as the dates of a home-and-home series between the programs: Oct. 8, 2016 in South Bend and Nov. 25, 2017 in South Florida.
....

No official announcement of the series is expected until the Irish fill out a couple full seasons of football schedules for the near term.

In your case it wouldn't be a visual trigger. But when the Blue Thunder Marching Band strikes up an ostinato riff and marches all 17 minutes to "In The Garden Of Eden" ...

With all due respect, i strongly disagree here. I believe that one of the things that sets Notre Dame apart from other "great schools" in the nation is the past. I mean, if we didn't love ND for the past and we focused souly on say the years 2000 to present day, the suicide rate for Domers would be through the roof. You can't talk about ND's greatness without talking about Rockne, the Gipper, Catholics vs. Convicts, 11 National Championships, Bob Davie. Without all this, ND is Central Michigan or even worse, Boston College. To embrace Notre Dame is to cherish the past, remain faithful through the difficult present, and long for future greatness.
