Wish I had the time to go back and watch the last 3 to 4 games and see how many times we motion the TE closer to the LOS or into the backfield for a run. Would also love to see how many times we use the same motion and run play action off that motion for an easy open pass in to the flats or over the middle.

I understand both sides of the argument here but the thinking of our offense that we can just line up and win plays because of Jimmys vs Joes is such a BS way of thinking.

I don’t really care to think a substantial motion overhaul changes the offense. After posting the rewatch that I did in Denbrock’s thread you can check out, people need to refocus that we honestly run an offense similar to Lincoln Riley. Air Raid passing principles with power run. I would play Burress more, go over the check/not check stuff with CJ and I’ve been saying since the Wisconsin game, I feel like the pistol stuff they’ve doing rarely deserves a bigger place. Add a bit more pistol, which adds a bit more PA and rollouts with it

They need to get out of the 12 personal unless they start playing the freshman. Go 11 and spread them out. That way you have legit receiving options if they still load the box.

I'm still optimistic for the rest of the season.

Teams, especially college kids, shit the bed all the time for a million different reasons. Somebody's girlfriend could have broken up with them, bad grade on midterms, or family dog is sick. It happens.

ND had a series of terrible missteps with that BYU game, but I put the offense on par with shit the bed territory rather than fundamental issues. ND lost 4 points with the missed throw to Faison which was basically automatic for CJ all season ("handoff downstairs" as we've heard a bunch this year). For all the collective hours everyone on this board watches football, how many times have you ever seen a fumbled spike attempt at any level? That was another 3 points. Add in some slightly off target passes in the end zone and we're talking about another 7-14 points. 38 points on offense wasn't unrealistic but the execution wasn't there. This isn't the first time ND has played subpar at the end of midterms week...

They have done some tendency breakers but it takes me going back to UNC to remember the last one. They had bunch formation on the left which was a screen every game up into that point but the pass went to Gilbert on the slant from the right side across the middle for the big gain - I could actually be mixing up plays but they're definitely was one and I have to go back and find it.

ND has deception and tendency breakers, but it's being kept in the pocket for now for some reason. I know CMF views it as a 15 or 16 game season, not just the regular season (ie CJ 2025 have us a better chance to win in January but Minchey had a better chance to win in Miami). Maybe the long term plan is to think that we are only less than halfway through the season even though we've played 7 games.

I was at the BYU loss last week. Immediately after the game, I turned to a friend of mine who was sitting next to me in the stadium and said, “Watch them lose to UCF next week.” So predictable.

I still want to play these jokers in the playoffs, I don't care if it's in Provo or South Bend.

I think BYU's loss is worse than our loss. I want Boubacar to hunt Bear.

Bottom line we beat Miami and SMU we get a bye and are probably back at #1. Even if BYU doesn’t lose again we will jump them with a Miami win. Wisconsin and others finishing up with winning records won’t hurt us getting there. Btw even when 100% passing downs on last drive for Ole Miss every drop back was play action. The lack of read option keeping the ball is awful by Carr and he could actually still roll out and pass. We have yet to open up the offense. With that said with better play by Carr we win even with terrible coaching by Denbrock. If our D is coached properly our offense is good enough in vanilla mode to still win every game.

After hearing Freeman's PC, I realize the week off and a long weekend in NYC did not temper my disgust at this game.
Yeah, the team chaplain for the ND football team was a guest Priest this week at my parish and my son and I both said we are still sick about it to him after the service.. His faced changed when I said it and he says oh I know!!!

I am not over it at all.

They went down to their third string RG and both CBs were out at parts of the game already down their nickel vs UCF

Good job body blowing these guys to a loss the next week
