Damn that sucks. Add in Mensah and they seem like a top 10 team again despite their losses

Knapp and Wagner due to their undersized build tended to struggle with power rushers like a Mesidor/Bain, not as much true speed rushers like Wilson or Howell for A&M for example really didn’t do much. Will be interesting to see on an offense built around the pass who locks down OT. The #1 argument for moving Knapp IMO is no longer that he isn’t a true LT, it’s that the offense likely needs to evolve to prioritize different things than the last two years

Miami is essentially going from Bain (6'3 275) and Mesidor (6'3 280) to Wilson (6'4 250) and Lightfoot (6'5 230). Those are two quality speed rushers, but that is a major downgrade in terms of power and size.

Their bigger issue is that they're going to have to replace at least 4 of their starters on the OL.

Knapp/O-line saw Damon Wilson in the Sugar Bowl just a year ago. He was in the rotation at OLB in Georgia's defense. Finished with 2 tackles/QB hurry.

Yeah on the edge but still could be the best DL in CFB again

Maybe we need to evolve and a big part of that is because Knapp is not a true LT. He surprised as a FR but as a Soph in the first half of the season when he allowed 5 sacks and 21 pressures we really had to change up the game plan and the OC did a great job of that but why not just put people in the position to best succeed. If we want to open up the offense and take shots downfield let's take a "natural" OG and put him at G instead of LT.

Missouri actually had DE Damon Wilson (6'4, 250lbs) and LB Dameon Wilson (6'0, 223lbs)... Definitely confusing, but two separate players. Here is the ESPN profile for Damon Wilson, the player we're referencing here.

Weird. I got that straight from this ESPN article. Guess they confused the two. I thought he seemed undersized. Maybe he had the heart of a lion or some shit.

Why do we assume that a highly rated high school QB (or two) is no longer a more than viable option as a BACK-UP quarterback?

Because when it's bar close and the girl you have been chasing leaves with the other guy (Deuce)....

You are stuck with whoever will go home with you (Hebert)

Well, we can't be scared of a "very good" Miami; instead we should welcome that.

With the apparent mediocrity of our schedule, we need to:
A. beat a Top Ten or Fifteen Miami; hell, we essentially beat a better Miami this year;
B. beat other "good" ACC teams (like, hopefully SMU and Syracuse with Angeli);
C. Sweep the 6 ACC so voters see us as essentially the ACC champions;
D. hope BYU is at least "good", and beat them at their place.

That plus going undefeated gets us a Bye.
If anyone's afraid of Miami, they already have a losing head.

Another thing: we have the best defensive backfield in the Nation and RETURNING!
Translation: you're in every game before it even starts. Who's going to be better than us on that side of the ball?
Another thing: CJ Carr. And, I might add despite the festering sky-fallers, we have an OLine crew
which caused THREE players to leave for prominent jobs elsewhere in football.
Hmmm... maybe our guys are even better than them?

Best D in the nation, plus CJ Carr behind our OLine and probably the best RB room again
(guys, Aneyas is REAL good.) Bring them on!

We are blessed. But some insist on driving themselves crazy.
Our ONLY worry is injury and recovery. Can't reasonably plan away that.
NIL, cash, salaries, meddling ... we're still not the NFL.

Is Mendoza really that good? I did not watch much, if any, of IU games or highlights. But, is he actually an exceptional QB prospect?

Watching the NCG alone, the only game I watched of his, he seemed like a smart, calculated game manager.

How does he stack up against previous prospects to come out in the last three or five years?

RPO merchant and I feel like NFL draftniks are gonna hate his game

He's fine. Solid. Isn't going to wow anyone with his tools, but he's a big strong guy who doesn't make a lot of mistakes and seems the sort that could have a good NFL career in the right situation.

In other words he's a totally-draftable quarterback but feels like a stretch as the #1 pick. But it's a weak year for QBs and if you want one he's the best around.

I think he's definitely got enough tools to justify him going first overall.

But he has absolutely not been asked to read/adjust at an NFL level. The back shoulder throws are great, but a) those will be a lot tougher at the next level, and b) you can't make a living off that on Sundays.

I could see any outcome with him - All Pro or Mitch Trubisky. Just will depend on how well the staff develops him.
