Simpson already exposed Miami and other schools for tampering. No one cares. There are no consequences.

Miami isn’t splitting their CFP revenue across the ACC?

Good for them I suppose but I thought that was the entire point of rigging it so the ACC got a bid to begin with, so that Wake and Pitt and BC would all get their little taste. But no, instead Miami just gets to buy their players?

This conference grows more bullshit by the week.

Yeah I can't imagine any acc team is happy with Jim Phillips right now.

That was the settlement offer for FSU and Clemson to drop their lawsuits to leave the ACC.

Both teams end up sucking and get nothing. The rest of the conference gets screwed too for agreeing to do it.

They get to survive in a P4 football conference.

That's the fun part, none of it is remotely legal. The NCAA is beyond a joke.

Also, Duke has an obligation to the rest of college football to sue the hell out of Miami and Mensah.
It's precisely that Duke is going after Miami is why the NCAA won't be able to just ignore this.

Before, colleges who played by the rules and were screwed over by cheating had no real recourse, because these guys had no contractual obligations to uphold outside of their LOI. Now you have guys reneging on their contract, which gives colleges plenty of recourse. There's now legally binding contracts attached to these guys.

... and I dont feel sorry for these players anymore. They made their bed, let them lay in it. Chase the bag, stop using logic and reasoning to make the best choice for you... You get what you get.
I don’t have a problem with players getting paid when everyone else is, but like … yeah, these are stupid ass kids with street agents dreaming of making millions. What did people think was gonna happen?

Does that settlement have an expiration date?

I'm assuming that it goes until 2036, which is when the media rights deal expires. But realistically it also dropped the exit fee and the common wisdom says that at 2030 it will have dropped enough that Clemson and FSU will be gone. IIRC, depending on if enough schools exit (i think it needs to be half?), the media rights contract dissolves.

ND looks forward to playing you on 11/7 where I'm sure your performance against ND's top D will be Mensa Mensa.

Doesn’t this whole thing hinge on Miami buying out Mensa’s contract? So Miami has to pay both Mensah and Duke, reportedly 10 million.
Makes more sense to just take the money and not go to court. They always rule in favor of the player anyway.

There is reportedly no buyout clause in the contract and the number being floated is what people think courts would assess as damages. So hypothetically Duke could say "nope you get zero dollars from Miami" and stick it to Mensah... but then Miami could try to get around that with rev share / unreported NIL. The whole thing is beyond messy.

I don't think Miami has to tamper to get find a QB. The need is well known and I think it's pretty reasonable to believe agents are reaching out to Miami on behalf of their QB(s). Wouldn't doing that be a part of the agent's job?

This is obvious tampering. He signed a new NIL deal with Duke last week.
