This is a guy ND tried really hard to flip from TN. If I remember the staff and many here at IE really liked him.

Yep, chose them over us and Clemson. Good ball skills/awareness, but above average athleticism and more quick than fast. I think he's better off as a S.

Alabama is a poooooorrrrrrr place my dude. They do not have a plethora of big donors that are willing to give back to the school in spades. It was one thing when Saban's boosters could give guys $50,000-$100,000 in cash and a booster could give that player a car to drive while they were in Tuscaloosa and another could pay for a nice apartment for the that guy...

Now we're talking about rosters that are $20+ million in Rev Share and another $15-$25 million in NIL... Starters at top schools are making a minimum of $500,000 annually, with the top quarterbacks making upwards of $4.5 million.

There was probably a time under Nick Saban (pre transfer portal and NIL) that they could buy their entire star studded roster for $5 million worth of cash and a bunch of booster provided perks... Now you're talking serious money.

I mean, sure. But you could extend that logic out to where Stanford and Duke and Northwestern are the next superpowers. And yet...

I agree the new financial order levels the playing field, and may advantage certain programs with bigger alumni bases (and excellent business schools like Indiana). But I find it hard to believe that Alabama simply cannot compete for top talent. Yes Alabama's a relatively poor state but I'm sure there are plenty of bankers and commercial real estate guys in Birmingham who are quite able to pay the bill to retain good defensive linemen. Football is also so core to their identity as a school. You think all those northern kids paying full-freight tuition for "the SEC experience" will be so excited to keep coming when the football team is going 6-6?

If LSU can light money ablaze to fire/hire coaches, and Kentucky can throw $3 million at Kenny Minchey, Bama should be able to keep players it wants to keep. The fact that they aren't, to me, signals a lack of confidence in the coaching staff more than anything.

Gotta give Jordan Seaton credit. He stayed with that dumpster fire in Boulder much longer than he should have. He'll go back to his original commit with Miami.

Ooooh he's from Northern Ireland, I saw an article that put Dublin earlier this afternoon. Gotcha
He's Catholic lol so he wouldnt use the phrase Northern Ireland. Much like New Orleans Saints K Charlie Smyth from County Down who describes himself as only Irish

I think it's more about what Lax said than anything. Sure all those mid-level millionaires could pony up the $40M in cash it takes to win, but they've had the last decade plus of winning national championships by paying peanuts comparatively. If you're a guy who owns a local construction company, you probably aren't extremely motivated to write a huge check right now to maintain your dopamine level.

Alabama boosters just had a 6 course dinner at a restaurant and now they've been presented a dessert tray that costs 10× more than they just paid for the entire prior meal. They're already full.

The interesting observations for me with regard to the portal is the teams that are adding players that were high level recruits that didn't get playing time but have potential and years of eligibility left vs the teams that are getting 3rd-5th year players that weren't with big name programs but were high level contributors with only 1 or 2 years of eligibility left.

I just don’t understand UCLA’s struggles in football,… you’d think it would be such an easy sell,…does this generation just not like hot Asian women?
Probably not, it seems this generation is opposite everything we liked or thought was cool and embrace everything that would've got your ass kicked in school. It reminds me of how Channing Tatum felt in "21 Jump Street" when he went back to HS.😂😂

Well it’s SoCal and you would never know it. If you like blondes good luck. You won’t see one on campus. Was on campus for a week and felt out of place as I am not a dark brunette. With that said I prefer exotic women and brunettes. Plenty of those to go around but not that many Latina’s. Well at least not on campus. Too much politics on campus.

Ok let’s add two quality DEs today and as a big bonus get Onye approved. Throw in a nice TE and I suppose a QB and a K. I still think Schmidt can work thru it. We should have double digit wins in all of our games so he can practice both extra points and FGs that probably won’t hurt us. Did we lose any games because of kicking? No but holding yes.
Would it be that bad of an idea to have Drew Pyne as a poor man’s insurance policy?

AFCA voted to increase red shirt year games from 4 to 9 games, essentially creating a 5 years to play rule. So players will now transfer 5 times in their careers if its approved by the NCAA.

Does that now include post season games as well?

I don't understand the logic. Just give everyone 5 years, don't count games. 1 free transfer, the next one makes you sit a year.

Well times must've changed, I saw plenty of blondes on my my visits out there (back in '01 and '02). Definitely heard about the politics on the campus albeit it's been a lot more recent.
