Their play in the trenches to me is at least a little suspicious. Stars matter there, especially on the DL, And they’ve been elite On both sides this year. Certainly is a Stanford under Harbaugh-esque anomaly.

But you can’t fake how damn good Mendoza was tonight. And you can’t fake how great his receivers were either.
Iowa has for years taken 2 stars and developed them into NFL quality players
you know nothing

Did we win the national title? That’s my comparison to Jr and Mark because they didn’t either. Somehow a nobody has ascended but we are still trying to figure it out. Part of it this year was getting the shaft and we couldn’t completely control that ( we could’ve called better plays and executed better in our first two games but it was still getting shafted) but it just makes me throw my arms up in the air that a perennial college football loser is gonna have a nattie when our program a supposed blue blood still seems to struggle to land guys in the portal. What are they doing that we aren’t?
Winning all their games
Winning a conference, so they get an autobid
Beating Miami (assuming they actually do win a Natty and don’t fall 1 game short just like we did last year

In all seriousness, there’s not really anything ND is “not doing” that held us back the last two years. Our schedule lined up poorly for having a new starting QB and DC still figuring things out. By week 4, this year’s team could play with any of these playoff teams. In fact, even in weeks 1 and 2, we actually did play two of them down to the wire.

I'm rooting for IU. It's been great watching OSU and the SEC teams fall on their faces. Plus I had to suffer through the first Miami dynasty... they've already won enough. It's refreshing to see a Midwestern school (other than OSU) win it. Might even help recruiting vs. the southern/west coast schools if there's more championship football to be had in the Midwest.

My only interest in the play offs was seeing the SEC teams disgrace themselves which they have done (predictably).
I have no interest now in the final - although now that I think about it I at least hope the tv ratings are as high as a game involving an SEC team would.

My buddy who is a D1 coach says this is being talked about in the coaching circles. Now it has reached social media.

I posted this last night half jokingly, but this guy is a legit CFB analytics savant. For him to say this seriously because IU is such an outlier of all data, made me pause.

Read his whole thread, not just the first tweet. He shows what he’s talking about.

Big 10 coaches were calling around about it during the season

I wouldn’t be shocked at all. After Michigan got away with cheating for a title, why not give it a shot if you’re an IU? Not like they have anything to lose. Any gains the program makes is found money.

While I don’t wanna jump the gun, it does seem too good to be true for Indiana to immediately turn it all around that dramatically.

If IU wins it all and we get proof later that this stuff is true, I’ll lose my fucking mind. That will mean 2 of the last 3 champions openly cheated, and Michigan was basically dealt no repercussions for it. Sport even more dead than it seems now.

The sport's been dead for around 2 decades now, but at least it was still entertaining. The odor of decay's too hard to ignore now

Outside of playing football really well, is there any evidence of this? I get there is suspicion and I don't think the suspicion is unfounded, but do we have any examples, yet?

Isn’t their average age almost 23 years old? They’re grown men, great coaching, and probably cheating. I think the last fairy tale in sports I believed in was the first few Lance Armstrong tours. Since then, just different levels/versions of cheating.

Did you read the tweets because he acknowledges there is no evidence multiple times. It's an inference based on the odds. Basically Indiana as a football team is a guy at the craps table who cannot miss to the point that a Casino manager would begin looking into it because it doesnt make mathematical sense.

I mean, if CIGNETTI himself came out of nowhere, I might believe it. But he had success at IUP and James Madison, not quite so much at Elon, but not a disaster. The guy DOES win. And I’m sorry, the likelihood he had some super cheating golden scam at IUP is extraordinary low.

He’s good at what he does, and he figured out how to use NIL and the portal in D1 first. That’s why this looks and feels different. Everything isn’t some grand conspiracy and scandal. Ffs.

I think those crying about cheating are simply sore losers

Cig from everything in his background is NOT cheating

he simply figured out a way to use the current rules BETTER than anyone else
Yep he is definitely as camp as a row of tents but he probably isn't a cheater as far as we know.

I think I’m cheering for Miami. I don’t see Indiana becoming a true problem for HS recruiting, and we don’t have many in state studs. But for the few that are in state and want to stay home, don’t really care to have an in state power with easier classes who pays more either.
