His JMU guys are 24/25 years old in many cases. I saw a tweet--maybe even on here somewhere--that compared the age of the IU starting 22 to other programs. It'll be interesting to see what they do when IU is competing with more comparably-aged players ("kids") and not literal grown men.
Yeah it's interesting because their "average" age of starter is allegedly like 22.5 years old. They have basically a perfect blend of:
1) Veteran proven transfers like Mendoza, Coogan, etc.
2) The best players from JMU
3) The couple good homegrown IU players
I saw a stat that 14 out of 22 starters are transfers but a big chunk of that 14 are guys that were developed at JMU. Getting to take a half a dozen really good players from a top G5, then being able to cull Indiana's roster of all the bad players but keep a half dozen good guys, and then adding another 8 veteran impact transfers is a heck of a blend... they are also very fortunate to have stayed incredibly healthy at almost all positions over the course of the year. Nobody really knows if the bottom 50 guys on the roster are any good at all.
