Can sec players not transfer to another sec school still?

I know some guys transferred in conference last cycle. Ole Miss and LSU got a slew of SEC transfers. Couple of other other guys that transferred in conf.
Kelby Collins FLA-Bama
Kam Dewberry A&M-Bama
Noah Thomas A&M-GA

Previously was not allowed to transfer between schools. That ended a while ago. Recently has been not allowed to in spring portal window. Spring portal no longer exists. So, short answer no it doesn’t exist.

If they want to go all in, they should try for 2 starters at DT. If Traore/Bowen/Gray/Shuler return, and if Burnham also returns or they get a comparable type of DE in the portal, the only hole is DT. Getting 2 DT's who have been good starters elsewhere would make this Defense elite. IMO, the 2 best in the portal so far are Mateen Ibirogba and John Walker. Ibirogba would be the athletic guy who gets good penetration, and Walker would be the nose who can stop the run. The only hold up with Walker is he doesn't appear to be a grad transfer even though he was a 2023 EE. He wasn't on the list of UCF players who graduated last week, but it could be a Beaux Collins situation where you tell him to finish the spring semester. The USC guy scares me a bit because he looks a lot lighter than what he's listed at.
Most definitely NEED at least 2 DTs, both the plugs from Wake and Auburn would be good options.

One guy that I would love for us to target in the portal - Jackson Kleather. Bowling Green Kicker. Was lights out this season.

Kicker should be the easiest hole to fill. A 40 yard field goal in the Sun Belt or MAC isn’t any different than one in the P4.
But we have to figure out why guys who have never been injured before they come to ND keep getting hurt after they do.

I'd double-tap that, and I think you'd agree, the numbers would add up.

Prister hinting that Burnham might hit the portal. Buckle up boys.
Not that I would like it, but "buckle up"?

I think people need to realize that even quality players and borderline starters will transfer in this day and age due to things like log jams at positions or just money. We are competitive in taking care of some of our guys but likely trying to avoid overpaying some.

Word was that some of our guys who transferred out expecting a pay raise found out it was not so simple.

So we'll see, but I don't think we should be worried.

Sounds similar to to Coogan/Spindler in that he probably already backdoor’d an exit prior to his PT increase

If he does, surely they'll add someone from the portal, right? Outside of Young and Traore we're pretty thin at DE. I like Thomas but he needs to put on 25 pounds or so.
