II pod today: O’Malley talked with some people who would know, and majority of them think Freeman is gone to the NFL after 2026.
When I saw this on YouTube my first thought: how long until someone clips this and uses it against Marcus in recruiting? He’s going to love that.

Why does Pete get the benefit of the doubt every time when someone questions him? This was his first real test as AD and he failed in both effort and execution.
Probably because he's been a large part of removing the shackles from this football program.

He hasn't signed an extension yet. Pete "ND is safely in if BYU loses" Sampson said to expect it in the next month. Idk why it is taking so long, it can be done in a day.
I get the importance of the contract, but this isn't the only thing on Pete or MF's desk. I imagine that they have agreed to the general terms, but legal needs to review. They create their contract and it needs to go to MF's agent/attorney for review. They won't like some of the wording and will make changes and send it back for ND's attorney's to review. They will go back and forth several times before they end up agreeing on the wording. Our IE attorneys can chime in and correct me, but this has been my experience working in my job.

That was my wording,… they meant in terms of commitment, time and grind
Yeah there is no doubt the NFL is an easier lifestyle. For starters you get an actual offseason that lasts several months.

But just to add on the O'Malley discussion, he posted a little more detail on the board. This all happened at a dinner two weeks ago. One person said Freeman would be around for a decade. O'Malley said 3-4 years. And a "handful" of other people said gone after '26.

That's really all there is to it. It was two weeks ago, before all this shit went down and a championship was still on the table for this year.

I will eat crow if I am wrong, but none of this worries me.

ND and college football are in a very different place than ten years ago. Seriously, how many jobs across CFB and NFL are better than ND? 2? 3? When OSU opens up, I will wet the bed.
Reading the tea leaves over the past several months, the NFL is a much bigger threat than OSU. It sounds like the OSU desirability might be overblown.

Maybe I’m just getting more pissed as the week goes on the more I think about this and NO ONE in the media is demanding answers from the committee.

They opened the podcast basically saying Pete shouldn’t have doubled down on the playoff talk because it’s done and over with. They seemed so dismissive and accepting of it all.

HELLO. This is your golden opportunity to do some digging and ask some fucking questions that we all want answered.

Why is a guy that wrote a book about ND have to recuse himself but not sitting AD’s that make money if their conference is represented?

Where’s the corruption lie within the committee? Brice admitted on the pod there was backdoor lobbying going on. WHO AND HOW?

Is the pop tart rep call into the Mad Dog Show real that claimed Jim Phillips acknowledged the ACC would be in with Duke winning? That’d be great to find out.

Why did Brice believe Duke winning BEFORE conference championship weekend would result in Miami being in? He was right, but why. Who made the call?

Why hasn’t Hunter Yurachek or anyone on the committee done a single interview since?

What happened Sunday is completely unacceptable for college football and as ND beat writers they should be foaming at the mouth to uncover what the hell happened.
This is what I want to know. I hope those buying Maisel's book ask him that straight out when he visits campus. He no doubt had awareness of the backdoor dealing; why recuse himself when he likely knew the sec affiliated members would put their thumb on the scale?

Did ND have awareness of what he was doing, possibly as their one advocate within the committee?

It's nearly impossible to fight corruption with integrity and expect a positive outcome. Sometimes you gotta get blood on your hands.

You’re acting like he’s either some friend of ND or some unbiased observer. Ivan Maisel is neither. He is a HIGHLY partisan SEC supporter.

Yes, I know he went to Stanford, yes I know he wrote an ND book.

Any “journalist” (lol) who wants a payday writes an ND book at some point. He is NOT a friend, and he is not clean. He was in the room, and the room was chosen by ESPN. It’s likely they were all paid (I know the horseshit lie is that they are doing this all for free because they love the sport), and his check cleared regardless of how much he “recused himself”. They are all in on it, all colluded, and are all dirty as fuck. There are no exceptions.

And I’m sure he will lie through his teeth about it at the store. No truthful answers will be given. Lying is the FIRST command ESPN gives before they cut you the check.

For the most part everyone in national media is downstream of ESPN. Assuming they haven’t been cast aside, they won’t criticize it for fear of lost current or future opportunities. It’s funny to listen to someone like Steven Godfrey rail against Bristol on a podcast and everyone around him kinda goes quiet, even when he’s on a property of ostensibly an ESPN competitor.

I’m open in that I’m fully onboard with the idea of eson being corrupt and making cfb nothing but a giant money printing machine and that Notre dame is a threat to that for all the obvious reasons,… with that in mind I’m not saying MF isn’t interested in the nfl long term but I do believe espn and their partners make a point to put his name out there every chance they can for the aforementioned reasons. Just my two cents.

Prister also said on the same pod that if you think ND is the villain, then you're the villain.

Outside of his occasional Seinfeld reference, it feels like he's actively trying to be a whiny, self-important twat. His scoffing and rejecting a reader asking him and his co-hosts a lighthearted question about what they were doing for the bye weekend was Exhibit A.

We get it. You coached high school baseball and met Lou Holtz.

Ironically enough Prister’s team ended my high school baseball career about 15 years ago in the final four.

I’ve never submitted a question for the II pod and I’m saving that as my question intro.

Still haven’t forgiven that old grump or that team to this day!

They lost the state championship game because he started the wrong pitcher. That would’ve been the same time I was in high school.

Unfortunately that guy had the game of his life against us. They also caught a huge break as our regional final was pushed from Saturday to Monday because of rain so they got our stud #1 on 4 days rest.

Yeah with no deadline and nothing really going on right now there’s no pressure to move quickly and if you’re MF’s team why in the world wouldn’t you take your time and see what comes up as we enter job opening season. 2026 class is signed and there’s plenty of time to reassure 2027 class if anyone gets worried.

Also, like, lawyer work is boring. If I don’t have a pressing deadline on something it’s pretty much guaranteed that it’s going to take a back seat to anything I have deadlines for + IE shitposting.

Lawyers are also trash this time of year.

Prister is getting up there with Coach D in terms of insufferability. Like seriously, his reaction to Pete Bevacqua's comments and PC are just made me let out one of the longest "UGGGGGGHs" of my life. Dude is so friggin dense and so far up his own ass.

Dianna has been locked in when it comes to NY professional football teams the past few years since she went to The Athletic

Here is what her “insider” article from this morning says about coach and the NFL interest.
Certainly nothing earth shattering as far as new information, but just wanted to pass it along.

She’s still waiting for that AJ Brown trade to happen
Haha. Fair
No “insider” gets their predictions right 100% of the time, unless you’re just a layup merchant like Schefter.

She is very close with Bill Parcells, who is still very close with the Giants / Mara family.
I’m sure she has a decent idea of who the Giants are targeting.

The Jets have a lot of draft picks to throw at the Bengals for Joe. They have a ton of cap space and their o-line has been giving Fields about five seconds to throw per drop back. I think Joe could throw a football through a thimble with five seconds to process and setup.

Yeah, good luck to the Jet fans and their organization on their next move at QB.
It just seems like that position is cursed, and it’s going to take a special player / talent to figure it out. Joe would certainly be the all in move.

I think the more realistic (although still unlikely) franchise QB trade option for them would be Lamar if the Ravens miss the playoffs and decide it is time to cut bait on the Lamar era.

Just my two cents.
