I think OSU was coming off the Michigan win-lull and the game last night was just for seeding. The team knew it didn't matter. They just won it all as the 8 seed.
That game was IU's Super Bowl.

Imo, in the playoffs it will be entirely different, but that doesn't mean IU isn't legit. They deserved it with wins at Oregon, Iowa, IL, and last night..
True, but it does mean the difference between playing TT or Georgia in the semis. IU could well make the title game if ND is not on their side of the bracket.

I get the hate. And yeah, It’s a different game being played now, with transfers and stuff. I’m not sure that is the dunk you guys think it is, though. As someone who builds and manages teams (corporately, not sports) I find it exponentially harder to quickly compile a group of people who have never worked together and make them cohesive than to build a team through natural talent intake, attrition and development.

That’s a long way of saying I am crazy impressed with what cignetti has done, and I think he’s doing it the hard way.

It's very impressive anyway you look at it.
I think if Notre Dame wasn't in the state of Indiana, the hate here wouldn't be anywhere near as high. It's mostly our local fans having to deal with the people coming out of the closet. I have yet to meet anyone in the real world even mention IU football and I'm only one state over in Illinois.

This is probably a lot of it. I also just don’t see any of these teams as world beaters like LSU, Bama, Georgia, Clemson, and Ohio State have all been over the last decade. Now the field is way closer to the top. I think Indiana is a good team but I’d expect ND to beat them. I thought Ohio State was better but last night was the first time I watched them since Texas.

last night meant something to OSU. They talk about 3 things here in Columbus and 3 things only, 1. Michigan 2. Winning the big ten 3. Winning the National championship. It irritates the shit out of them that they haven‘t won the conference since 2020.

Props, man. I hope they play Ohio State again somehow, but let's not forget who the last team to beat Indiana was.

They won road games at Oregon, PSU and Iowa. Then beat Ohio State. Pretty solid.

They are now going to schedule like conference affiliated douches, but that's their right.

Still hope Oregon wins it all.

No thanks to Oregon. They would be the most insufferable group of douche bags if they won. They are the west coast equivalent of Michigan.

There's not really one team left I care for or "want" to win, it's more about cheering against certain teams for me, but alas, I am a hater.

I'm more or less fine so long as any of these teams don't win:
Miami
Alabama
UGA
Indiana

I also don't like OU but I don't think they have the juice to win it all so I don't care. I do hope they beat Alabama, though.

The problem with the "it was the other team's super bowl" is that the game counts and now that team believes they can beat you...because they just did. Its really best to curb stomp those types of teams when given the opportunity. Ohio State may not be as good as everyone thought either and now Indiana has a pretty good idea about it.

TTU, Oregon, and Ole Miss are the easiest to root for. I generally find Ole Miss really off putting given how they still court confederate imagery in a sport dominated by black athletes, but it would be a cool story if the kids rallied after their coach left them high and dry.

I'll take your word for it. Never met an Oregon fan in my life.

I have absolutely zero interest in any SEC school winning, no to Texas Tech and Miami, no to Ohio State. Indiana....I don't want to deal with the mess of then being National Champion.

Tulane and JMU have no chance.

I like Dan Lanning and I hate everyone else involved in this. It's honestly not even close.

I live in Oregon so I have a built in bias against them. Years of those assholes giving me shit for being an Irish fan 😂. Last year was therapeutic to say the least.

Also agree with you on Lanning. He’s a weirdo but a damn good coach.

Well, with all the fuckery of today....and as a person that his lived in Indiana all 47 years of my life....go Hoosiers. I won't watch, but fuck everyone else
Fuck the Loosiers and their coach Cigarette! They are one happy mutha fuckers because ND is out and would be their opponent after the Irish put a can of wup-ass on the Sooners.

Like it or not, this guy lays out how transformational Cig has been for IU, and why he may even be underpaid.

Of course, coming to a CFB P4 bottom dweller as HC and to a middling state university, made this stellar and rapid transformation possible since the floor was low to begin with.

I wonder if Cig looked at things like this - I'm sure I'm giving him too much credit - and the famous and well-funded alum as potential donors plus the cupcake 2024 and 2025 schedules and thought to himself, this is my P4 HC play of a lifetime?

Does make you think about the bigger CFB P4 University picture beyond just the football program.

I'll give Cignetti some credit finally, he's proved he's pretty good given the playoff wins now. I still think the schedule is weak though, it's easy to get your team up for 1-2 big games a season. I want to see how Indiana handles playing OSU, Michigan, and USC in a season when all 3 are playing at a good level. Each year he has to play one really good team in the regular season and they haven't had to play a team with a pulse until mid October (If not later).

True, thanks. I was kind of lumping the CCG as a big win, but honestly I think OSU didn't care if they won that game and maybe was looking for a wakeup call like the Michigan game in '24. Obviously didn't work for the Buckeyes this time.

I agree he is under paid. He should go to the NFL
