I’m gonna guess they are gonna flip Ryder Lyons. But I believe he’s going on Mission anyways? You could be on the hot seat by the time he’s your QB.

This feels like a bad move for all parties involved. I thought Chesney seemed like a perfect fit for them - young Pennsylvania guy with the same chip on his shoulder that Cig had coming from JMU.

Who knows? If ND has become a place that has attracted its fair share of poly kids, maybe PSU could do the same.

How deep are BYU’s pockets? I know they signed the #1 recruit in basketball last year so I’d guess they have some cash to play this game. But enough?
Very deep they’re directly funded by the church and their goal is to be “the Mormon Notre Dame.” Football powerhouse who wears their religious affiliation on their sleeve

PSU must have seriously thought they could get Freeman.

Sitake has to be way down the list.

Interesting comment from one of my friends who is a giant self-proclaimed SEC fan (he graduated from UK so he just cheers for the whole conference), he says ND is clearly the best job in America right now. His rationale is a bit off to me but he says the combination of money, easy schedule, and tradition makes it the top job.

If they had gotten Chesney, they would have been fine. Better off with him than Sitake, anyway.

Although, I'm not sure their psycho fans would have understood that.

And I'm not crapping on Sitake. He fits BYU and can take them to the top of the B12 and to the playoffs. He just isn't a Penn St type and I doubt it works out for them.

Yeah, BYU is a very certain cultural fit that not everyone can handle and vice versa. Has there ever been a case recently of a BYU coach leaving and having success?

The owner of the Utah Jazz and Utah Mammouth is basically bankrolling BYU's NIL. For context, he bought AJ Dybantsa, the #1 High School Basketball recruit in the country.

For all the grief Kiffin is taking over bailing on Ole Miss ahead of the playoffs, this one in some ways is worse. At least Ole Miss has effectively made the playoffs, and now has a few weeks to adjust. BYU is about to play its biggest game in 30 years on this very Saturday.

(To be clear I hope they get rocked.)

Plus, Kiffin was always just a mercenary. This guy is like one of them truly.

Bronco took UVA to an Orange Bowl, but that's about it.

There haven't been too many coaches in modern BYU history. Edwards was there for almost 30 years. 3 since him, including Sitake.

Cignetti, Elko, Freeman, Rhule, DeBoer at least

Their board insider said “Just have not been able to get him to bite at all. It's not from lack of effort”

@EvilleIrish why didn’t you report back on that post?

What's the pitch there?

"Hey Marcus, you've beat us on the field and are nuking us from orbit in recruiting. COME TO PENN STATE!!! Marcus? Marcus? Are you giggling? Hello?"

I know an NFL coach that knocked up a friend of the family...when that news breaks, it will be a good story!

I talked to Jersey Jerry about it, so it's starting to get out. DMs open if anyone cares. 😜

Mods aren’t reporters. Just a normal poster with a ban hammer
How quickly people forget the Notre Dame quarterback battle of 2025. Who had it right? The best damn message board there ever was. And he wasn’t even a mod!!!

Sitake to PSU it is…

I am floored by Chesney taking an awful UCLA job when I thought he was automatic to Happy Valley.

Equally as floored by Sitake leaving Mormon headquarters to take a job in central PA where half the campus is dedicated to a deceased Italian Catholic from NY.

Saw an article that Denbrock is being considered for the Michigan Stare job. He was a GA there in 88/89 and is from MI. I wouldn’t mind him moving on. In 25 years of assistant coaching he had great gifts at LSU for a year and a wealth of riches here at ND. He was an upgrade to Porker who sucked and probably a lateral move from Rees. Would take Charlie Weis Jr in a snap. Would make the second LSU OC we snaked. Lane can’t get mad since he is always jilting his bosses. I’m still mad for Denbrock blowing the Miami game.
Junior is never stepping on ND’s campus again, unless he’s coaching against them. ND and South Bend treated his family so horribly.

Sitake's odds have taken a hit over the last hour and Brohm's odds have skyrocketed. Man it would be fun to be a fly on the wall during all the discussions that must happening right now in Provo. Sounds like the boosters have been activated and might have saved the day for them, but I'm only reading hearsay on Reddit.
