Funny moment at the end of the Syracuse presser. Freeman was asked what he thought of Love’s Heisman pose celebration, referencing his other, less PG celebration against Southern Cal. Freeman made it clear he did not like that one but had no issue with the Heisman pose.

Tengwall claiming most of their options dried up. Kraft sounds like a total piece of work in the interviews.

They’ll suffer 2-3 years under Smith and hit reset after that.

Hope so. Bit concerning that of all the major coaches who's names have been mentioned as targets for these openings, the only ones who haven't yet re-upped at their places are Drink, Kiffin, and Freeman.

Here is a link to the specific comment. Beat guy is addressing a 'mystery man' discussed on their message board. Beat guy doesn't care about jeopardizing the deal (I'd be a pissed off PSU fan if this contributed to a 'no'), he is guessing that it's MF. It's coming from the "agency industry" and people close to the program. Freeman hasn't said no and his agents are making sure his name is out there, but beat guy still thinks it's NFL if he leaves.

I dunno, seems clickbaity

It's such an impulsive and emotional fanbase and leadership. The firing of Franklin because this year went sideways, now falling in love with Terry Smith because they won a couple of games and he wore a pin while having someone print Hire Me signs for the players.

So there's an internet rumor and Freeman is this guys guess based on nothing? Then he adds DeBoer to the list right after? lol

Also has there even been someone that looks more like the personification of a PSU fan than that guy on the left?

About the only thing that could splash water on my final view of MFMF would be him leaving, at a time like this, for a program like this.

Even if we revert to the mean a few years from now and eventually part ways (though let’s not)… my view of MFMF would remain largely positive and I’d be grateful for what he gave us at the start. It didn’t work out… oh well.

But a lateral move to PSU would be… disgusting.

PSU is a bad job right now.

  • Roster and recruiting class in total shambles
  • Most of the support staff followed Franklin to VT, including the GM
  • NIL situation is a wreck
  • Kraft is a dope
Freeman don’t spend the last six months destroying them on and off the field to take over a dumpster fire of a rebuild.

Imagine Truman taking over Japan after dropping two nukes on them. That’s Freeman taking over PSU right now.

I refuse to believe a private institution with a billion plus endowment, would let a public institution out bid them for the 2025 version of Marcus Freeman until I see it.

It wouldn't even be a lateral move, it would be a downgrade. He'd be walking away from a championship roster and Top 5 class to start over from scratch at PSU. It'd be an idiotic move. I'll believe it when I see it.

gtfoh he isn't going to gd Penn State

We spend the whole year talking about how MF would likely not leave ND for anything except maybe OSU or the NFL, then program-adjacent media from open positions and his agents float his name and people start pissing their pants.

Get a grip.

That’s right. Lateral move in title only. It would make no sense (aside from money potentially)

Freeman is not going to Penn State.

I don’t even have the words to explain in every possible detail why, he’s just not. He loves ND, he loves what ND has done for him and his family, also affording the ability to raise and be present with his family despite the near 24/7 attention and demands of being a head coach.

If he goes to any other program besides the NFL, he’s a fraud who gave us all great lip service. And considering his background, the stories you hear about his mother and father and how he was raised, he’s a man of integrity.

There is nothing Penn State can offer that ND can’t. Considering where he is at now as a HC, Penn State is not a lateral job - it’s taking a step backwards.

By this line of thinking, every time somebody is interested in a top tier coach they should get re-upped by their current school? At that rate these guys would be getting raises every year and making 50 mil/yr by 2032.

This is quite an interesting way of paraphrasing what the guy actually said

"name hasn't completely fallen out of this thing" "they're going to make him say no and shut the door and he hasn't yet"

the door would have to be open for him to shut it lol

They're worth what the coaching market dictates they're worth.

I did a four month internship at a winery that was a big enough deal to have the attention of wine Twitter and wine forums and shit (yes this exists) and while I worked there I read those forums, which themselves were populated by industry insiders and wine journos etc sort of analogous to this PSU knob. How completely disconnected from reality much of what those insiders were saying about the day to day operations of the winery, and how confidently they put it out there, and how quickly each new weird tale became accepted truth as part of the basic narratives that informed all the discussion on the boards, well I think about that a lot, is all I'm saying.

That seems to be the name of the game. More money is being poured into schools through boosters and the like, a program wanting the next great coach is going to pay top dollar. It forces all those to match to play the game.

It's not a lateral move. Maybe under the BK regime it was optics wise (never in reality imo), but it isn't anymore. We're in a different league. Freeman has us on the cusp of back to back playoff appearances and a consensus top 4 class coming in next year. Zero chance he makes that move.
