We didn't really fire himEven if they find cause they would have to somehow prove they didn’t actually fire him weeks ago
Auburn, LSU, etc. deserve to fail. It's weird how the only SEC schools with a veneer of professionalism are Texas, Bama, Georgia and maybe Vandy. Everyone else just does wackadoodle stuff and hopes for the best.
The circus clown show will likely scare off potential coaching candidates.I hate BK but LSU should just friggin pay him. Why put that buyout in if you’re just going try to weasel out of it?
Kelly, the clowns running LSU, and a pack of greedy attorneys - you could make a case that Kelly is the least unlikeable person in the whole mess. Never thought I’d be typing that sentence here. These attorneys probably work for LSU and get paid regardless of what "work" they're doing. So what's the gambit for LSU? Their attorneys are sunk costs, Kelly's are not. LSU dares Kelly to drag them into court, win a full settlement and pay his attorneys $20M while he ends up with $34M. So LSU comes to him and his attorneys and says "Why don't you just take $35M?" Kelly gets $34M, the attorneys get $1M for writing a letter.

Idk with the way this has gone thus far…I suppose that LSU could have attorneys on staff.
Even if you had attorneys on staff, there is ZERO chance that they would be given the responsibility of handling a case where 50 million dollars is on the line.
Even if they had to go state level attorneys, I'd still say it's worth it to use them. Worst case, you owe him the buy-out, best case you call his bluff. But if you're paying the attorneys on staff one way or the other, why not? LSU/Louisiana has nothing to lose. Kelly has a lot of money to lose--even if he were to win a case, a portion goes to attorneys--were the case to go to trial. I don't care if the attorneys opposed to him are clowns, his attorneys are still going to gouge him.I suppose that LSU could have attorneys on staff.

They offered him $25m then $30m, out of a $54-58m buyout.
Those aren't serious offers.
They need to start at like $42m, and hope they don't get past $47m before he accepts.
LouisianaSports.net has learned that Kelly’s representatives countered LSU with a $43 million offer which LSU rejected.
Except that saying those aren't serious numbers isn't serious. We're talking about a potential lump sum--PV is always less than FV--plus a discount for, possibly, keeping certain unflattering information within the bounds of a NDA, which is worth a bit more. End of the day, $30M is 55% of the purported total value. Even looking strictly at one annual payment for each of the next seven years with a 5% discount rate, the PVofA is $44.6MM. Now that's not factoring anything else--the school's opportunity cost, perhaps the damaging evidence they have which might actually allow to significantly decrease their liability, etc. Perhaps $30M wasn't prudent but $38-40M wouldn't have been out-of-bounds in my opinion.
FTFYDream scenario:
1. LSU has pay more then the original amount when this is over
2. BK loses all the money in a Ponzi scheme a year later to me.

With heat like this I’m going to have to go look up your other 7 posts. Keep it coming!Feel like that dancing video with him grinding on #6 was cause enough tbh.
They have a General Counsel's office (I believe all schools do), but I believe in matters like this, they'd farm it out to outside counsel (I believe Phelps Dunbar or Kean Miller)?I suppose that LSU could have attorneys on staff.

Could let the attorney general's office handle it but I would guess they farm it outThey have a General Counsel's office (I believe all schools do), but I believe in matters like this, they'd farm it out to outside counsel (I believe Phelps Dunbar or Kean Miller)?
They have a brand new General Counsel’s office. Governor apparently got involved in two cases involving tenured LSU law school professors and political comments they made. (I know one of them has filed a suit on First amendment grounds). Around this time there were calls to remove general counsel as a DEI hire. After five years on the job the general counsel tendered his resignation likely under pressure from governors office. I dunno, sounds like Landry is desperate for a the president’s affection and like’s to insert himself in some things that are likely beneath the office. They have a General Counsel's office (I believe all schools do), but I believe in matters like this, they'd farm it out to outside counsel (I believe Phelps Dunbar or Kean Miller)?
I never hope that fat fuck wins … the way he left Notre Dame and tarnished her name on the way out … we don't have the environment or the resources to compete for championships… he wanted a new challenge, despite never being inning anything of note.Obviously don't care for BK, but in this case I hope he wins. They offered him the money and fired him with a winning percentage north of .700. They better have to pay every single penny.
What LSU has to lose is the fact this will affect their ability attract big name coaches for some time after they see that the school will try to fuck you out of your buyout when they fire you 3.5 years into your megadeal. Why would a coach with other, comparable options, go to LSU when one day the governor could step in and fire you and then have the school turn around try to pay you less than half of your buyout?Even if they had to go state level attorneys, I'd still say it's worth it to use them. And perhaps if it went to court, LSU would then call on outside counsel if needed.
Yeah, but he didn't hold a gun to LSU's head and make them offer him such a stupid deal. They did that on their own, and were quite proud of it might I add. Their stupidity should be punished. Now they're trying to play games and invent cause after the fact, they have truly made BK into the good guy here and I resent them for that. I'm glad they lost to Bama (no offense Forkbeard).I never hope that fat fuck wins … the way he left Notre Dame and tarnished her name on the way out … we don't have the environment or the resources to compete for championships… he wanted a new challenge, despite never being inning anything of note.
He could have left with dignity, with class. But, no… He intentionally and purposefully took shots at Notre Dame on the way out. He tried to push the blame on Notre Dame for his lack of championship caliber success all the while, it was solely on him. Look what his successor has done… A first time coach has rallied and resurrected the program to levels he never could achieve or attain. Freeman is fighting for another playoff birth, while Kelly, the loser, was fired before even getting into the month of November
