Shane Steichen reads the board, confirmed.I love jet motion if for nothing else than giving some eye candy for the defense to have to account for. I’m also fine with sacrificing a play like a jet sweep for no gain if you can use that to set up a big gain later from that same look/action.
Part of it to me is our formations. We LOVE to stack the box on offense on ourselves. We will have all 11 offensive players within 6 yards of the ball and try to run right at them.On Love’s long run, there are 8 defenders near the LOS when the ball is snapped.
What exactly is the offensive line supposed to do?
5 on 8? Lol
Completely agree. We love to run that tight bunch. It gives you some outside leverage on play action, but adds another half man apiece to the box if you’re running the ball.Part of it to me is our formations. 12 personnel, both tes attached or one in motion, then 2 WRs only split a yard or two out.
The defense doesn’t have to respect enough open field.
Fair, OP just said offensive line. Still rough to run against an 8 man box with a man less. That means every blocker has to win their rep and rb is responsible for making a guy miss.7 on 8. They had 12 personnel on the field
Absher had a rough game1. Love is the best offensive player I've seen at Notre Dame. Technically I was alive for some of the all-timers but too young to really remember them.
2. CJ Carr and the WRs did a great job handling the elements. Only one drop for Fields and a number of great plays were made.
3. Defense did their job top-to-bottom but it's hard to really evaluate them with Navy missing their QB and a weird game script where the game was over by the 3rd quarter.
4. No missed extra points!!!
5. My one negative on the game was that the interior OL was mostly ass. Whiffed on so many blocks, just overall poor game against a very undersized Navy team.
I was at that game, a cold night in Death Valley. Stadium emptied out by 4th quarter. One of my best away games. But yeah, return for rematch in Shreveport was a complete reversal. OneThat was the game they went down to Baton Rouge and played penalty and turnover free football only to come back a month later and get blown out.
Georgia TechCal beat Louisville.
Wake beat UVA.
ACC is gonna get 1 bid and it's gonna be Pitt.
(Cincinnati Chili is good.)Good sir, may I invite you to the Dante Moore thread? How do you feel about Skyline? Have you had the pizza in Fort Wayne?
Whiffed or outnumbered? More of the latter.1. Love is the best offensive player I've seen at Notre Dame. Technically I was alive for some of the all-timers but too young to really remember them.

I was at the game...not sure why we dont run it outside moreWhiffed or outnumbered? More of the latter.
Have to believe Debrock throws the ball a lot more if it isn’t pouring rain.
Run game needs to show something new though. Every play is straight ahead between the tackles. Even Navy can stop it. Except for two long runs we didn’t do much on the ground
Only for the victory formation. Before suspect Denbrock showed up we would go under center occasionally. We have sucked all year in short yardage and once again on 4th and less than one we go shotgun and go rollout. We converted but that’s a blow to our collective ego that we don’t call a running play to build confidence and we don’t go under center. It’s time to come up with something under center! Loved when Mitchell would shift in and QB sneak. Short yardage plays on both sides of the ball have been an issue all year. Love and Price aren’t great at it. I think Payne and Williams actually hit the hole harder. What we’ve been doing has not been working.Jet sweeps out of the gun are too slow. Under center, much quicker and better. But have we even gone under center once this year?
I think we still have a good running game without Price or Love. Too often our RBs don’t have the vision to bounce it outside and just run into a clump of bodies. Price figures it out later but the outside bump was there a lot. I think Denbrock is still running a vanilla AF offense. Haven’t seen many traditional screens or dump offs and no counter plays. Why can’t we put price and Love in the backfield at the same time and make the opposing D pick their poison. Surprised we got no TE action beyond the sweet play by Minchey to 85.My only hope is it took the first starting line a few games to gel to start the season. Perhaps after a few games with this line, things will get better.
That said, our rushing attack seems so simple to defend - jam up the middle with 6 guys, send a defender around the edge to tackle the back from the side. No gain.
Our two running backs are the only reason our running game looks serviceable. It’s not the scheme or the OL.
They do pass block well though
Did ND do anything yesterday to honor Veterans for Veterans Day?
No, that would be a 69 preceding the ballsack.I'm old. Does than mean F- Notre Dame?
I was telling my wife that Love and Price feels like the late 80s, early 90s backfields1. Love is the best offensive player I've seen at Notre Dame. Technically I was alive for some of the all-timers but too young to really remember them.

Yes they did...they observed the vets who were employees plus the current and students. Also, during halftime show, the marching band did a medley playing the armed services hymns and asked anyone who served in that branch to stand up. Even US Coast Guard!Did ND do anything yesterday to honor Veterans for Veterans Day?
Anybody post this yet?
Even US Coast Guard!

The one game I attend this year and that’s the weather we get …. At one point, I was sitting there thinking, “what the hell am I doing…?” It was pretty damn miserable.
