We really need these teams to lose a game before conference championships start:
1. Georgia Tech (This is super important, Georgia game doesn't matter must be an ACC game)
2. Vandy/Ole Miss (One needs to start losing)
3.BYU/Texas Tech(Cant have two Big12 teams)
4.Tennessee(Cant let a SEC sneak in past us)

ACC is really killing us right now, Miami's loss really hurt us and right now we are on the outside looking in. Must win out and look good doing it. Chaos is good, sadly I don't see us getting a home game to start.

Vandy has Texas and TN left. I don’t see them winning both and the Big 12 won’t end up with more than 1. Houston shouldn’t be left out as another option there.

Losing to teams (Miami + A&M) that traditionally fade down the stretch was always a worry of mine. A&M hopefully proves me wrong there, but Miami is bound to make things difficult for us / the selection committee

Hot take: If Miami was 10 - 2 I don’t think the committee would have a problem ranking ND ahead of them.

It would infuriate folks. And we would hate it if it was us but it’s a very easy line to draw on who has gotten better as the season went on and who has struggled down the stretch. Road game. Carr’s 1st start. What if we beat Pitt and they lose to Pitt in WK 14? Watch them explain it away.

I really don’t expect Miami to run the table. 3 road games to finish, 2 in cold weather. I just think Beck’s arm is shot, watch WK 1 and the Louisville game, it’s not just the INTs the ball comes out weaker, has been for weeks. If someone (Narduzzi) can craft a good defensive game plan they likely drop another.

Miami going 11 - 1 and the ACC falling apart would still be ideal. Second would be them only losing to Pitt.

Miami will add 1-2 losses if I were guessing. I can see the losing a regular season game and then if they happen to get into the ACC title game they'd lose that too. They peaked too early

Yeah we need to hope for Miami to fall apart. I think as of right now they could be blocked from the ACC championship game and Miami lingering at 11-1 absolutely blocks ND.

pretty fun tool to play around with. lets you pick every game for the remaining weeks and then simulates who makes the cut

I thought from the get go I wouldn't be afraid to play Miami again the moment we lost to them. A&M will get better imo and would be a tough rematch. Miami caught us at a perfect time and I think we'd win by 10 points the second time around.

I agree, there's plenty of precedence in CFB history as well as CFP history to attest to this. There was a situation last year in the rankings where a team that lost to another team was ranked ahead of them, but I can't recall the teams. Feels like it happens every year.

Really though, I'm staying away from all of the scenarios and stuff until the initial CFP rankings come out. Until then we don't actually know. The AP poll is meaningless. We just keep going 1-0 and each week and it will sort itself out.

Agree, but not so sure that other than Navy (and even that is not guaranteed) these games go the way this writer wants them to.

Notre Dame Football Rooting Guide for Week 10: Who Fans Should Cheer For

Again, I would love to see to ensure ND's CFP spot (assuming ND wins out) the following:

- USC to beat Oregon in Beaverton
- Pitt to beat GA Tech after we hopefully beat them
- Vanderbilt to lose to TX or Tennessee

Honestly, if we are 10-2, Miami is 10-2, and we get the 11 seed over them, that is kinda bullshit. I'll take it, and I don't think it's impossible, but the results on the field should always come first.

we'd definitely be up at arms if that happened to us.

I felt the same way back in 1993. In my opinion the same argument is the justification for our national championship that year. Worse loss? Yes, but FSU was head to head.

All twelve games are played on fields, and all twelve matter.

First, sure, but not in exclusion to all other factors. A week one loss on the road to a team that required them to kick a go ahead FG with about a minute less shouldn't be only data point factored in. I would feel sorry for a team that got screwed by this if ND didn't have a title egregiously taken from them in 1993 over this same thing.

I do think they're hypothesizing that one of the 9 wins would be TAMU but still three losses are three losses...

They are referring to the same Texas team we saw against Kentucky anf Miss St the last 2 weeks, right? Lol
Annoying as hell and it probably won't happen b/c their offense sucks, but yes if Texas were to beat Georgia and A&M, even taking a loss to Vandy, they would be so back.

So we want Arch to play and not the backup QB. 😂

we win out and we are in baring some truly strange happenings

we will be on a ten game win streak; THAT is a major factor in tie breaking

Our losses were the first two games of the season which are traditionally given less importance

Good chance the majority of the 12 will have two losses so that is not really a problem

Vandy just needs to beat one of them to have a resume that's as good as ours
If Vanderbilt ends season with 2 losses total, Miami finishes with one loss but not ACC Champs, BYU/Texas Tech split regular season game and Big 12 championship game, Tennessee/Texas runs table...Notre Dame is out.

We need to happen-
  • Vanderbilt lose to Texas, plus at least one more loss
  • Texas lose to AM more than 1 point
  • Tennessee lose to Oklahoma
  • Oklahoma lose at least 1 more
  • BYU or Texas Tech to win out and Big 12, probably need BYU to have 2 losses as well
  • Virginia to lose 2

Would help-
  • Ole Miss lose 2 more
  • Oregon lose to USC
  • Indiana lose 2
  • Miami win ACC or lose two more
