Knapp is an unusual body shape and has been very impressive. Has a ton of skill and moves very well. But he may be better at G or C even for us if we have NFL level tackles in the program. If he’s really the strongest guy he could move the d tackles around.

You don't think he's improved due to game experience?
It helps, but Mickey wasn't better than Gray or Moore with playing time. Lambert just projects to be a different kind of player than Knapp. Knapp did a great job on Saturday and has been pretty good this year, but I think inside is where his future is.

Reports on Jagusah weren't always glowing from practice reports. I don't think he's guaranteed to have the starting left tackle spot. Also, Prister and other media believe he's best suited for guard. I think we don't give Knapp enough credit. He's played really well all things considered. He's only going to get better. I think Lambert could push for a tackle spot as well - his upside is enormous.

You think Rocco transfers? I believe he has a redshirt year. There will have to be transfers along the offensive line.
I think he does. I also think Coogan leaves.

I like Knapp I think he is better suited for Guard.

When it was over, left tackle Billy Schrauth -- who also rebounded from an injury this season -- and Knapp embraced near an end zone. Knapp, in a walking boot, did what he could to help the team on the sideline, handing out cups of water and words of encouragement to teammates.

"I look up to that kid," Schrauth said. "That was a really selfless reaction. All he came back with was an attitude of how he could help the team. 'Anybody need water? Anybody need anything?' You love to see that with a young player, especially in our group. It speaks to the culture, but it really speaks to who that kid is. He really is just a special guy."

Great kid - and what a espirit-de-corps has been created with this team.

Seeing that Knapp is projected to be a top 5 pick in multiple 2027 NFL mock drafts. Obviously these are super early, but high praise is high praise. Anyone else surprised by this?

I believe they have all ND players other than LenMo overrated. Fifth round seems more realistic for Knapp.

I mean, to be fair, this was about the time of year that Corey Robinson was a "Projected First Round WR".
Let's talk about draft grades in March of their draft eligible year.

I could see him drafted pretty early but he will definitely be a guard. Not first round though.

There's no question that Knapp is playing WAAAY better now than he was in the first week.

That said, no chance he goes in the top 5. His lack of an ideal frame for a tackle will hold him back.

Zack Martin was the ultimate swiss army knife OL with a resume mile-wide, and he didn't get taken until 16th overall.

Obviously in hindsight Martin still went too low at 16, based on his play in the NFL and All Pro selections. If the 2014 draft gets redone today I'm guessing he goes before Clowney, Mike Evans, Taylor Lewan for sure, OBJ, Kyle Fuller, Ryan Shazier, and even Khalil Mack. The only guy that still goes ahead of him is Aaron Donald. He would be #2 off the board.

Sorry but while there's a plausible argument that he's a better Guard than Khalil Mack is a DE but you're taking the all-decade team DE over any guard ever 100 times out of 100.

Ok, maybe my green glasses went a little far with Mack. Strictly based on All Pro selections Zack is 2nd only to Donald in that group and he's only off by one. I kind of forgot Mack is still playing because he's been out with injury, but yeah he's been pretty damn good. All 3 guys, Martin, Mack, and Donald were selected for the All Decade team. I don't think anyone else that year has that honor. Bottom line, Martin should have gone higher in hindsight and Dallas fans were lamenting the pick at first, but praising his career when he retired.

No way hes a top 5 pick, he is probally a 5th-6th rounder right now and that would be for guard. He isn't playing tackle in NFL

Think Mike Evans might go higher too. Hes got 12,800 yards and over 100 TD's. League is about scoring points.
Absolutely Evans would be higher now, one of the surest and healthiest WRs of the last decade. Until this year he hadn't missed a season, and rarely missed a game, picking up 1,000 yards every year. He made Manziel look better at A&M than he really was.

The whole list looks bad. Maybe they need to stop doing mocks so far out. Or go full Rtd and do mocks as sophomores in high school.

For his own sake he should be transitioned to center in the offseason. He’s obviously too small for NFL OT, and probably too small for guard as well. Doesn’t mean he can’t be a great center.
