Josh Pate thinks LSU first call is Marcus Freeman and I hope Marcus hangs up. If he says no to LSU I dont think he'd even take Ohio State

LSU is a way better job than UF imo. I believe LSU is a top 3 job in the country.
Completely agree. To me, in the SEC there is Bama, that is a notch above every other job. After that I would put UF, UGA, LSU in a second tier. Texas now being the SEC changes it a bit, I could see them being tier 1, tier 1.5, or tier 2. I'm not really sure about OU or aTm.I don’t get why most people think LSU is a better job than UF. Feel pretty comparable to a Yankee like me. I think I’d prefer UF tbh.

Not sure about top 5 but it’s better than Florida imo.
Personally, I believe LSU is a better job than Florida, but if Freeman immediately told Florida no, I feel even more confident LSU is a no for multiple reasons.
Lanning came up through the Saban/Kirby Smart tree and has ties to the SEC. He would be a great fit there. If I'm LSU I go get Dan Lanning, not sure why...I just feel he'd be a good fit.
I think the difference is having the entire state to yourself versus competing with Miami and FSU for Florida. Also, apparently Florida talent isn't as great now. There has been a recent talking point of how they don't pay their high school coaches as well as other southern states and the kids have an easier time transferring high schools so they don't develop as well at one place.I don’t get why most people think LSU is a better job than UF. There is 1 LSU. There is 3 Floridas.
LSU.

Unless the stats have changed, the state of Louisiana produces more NFL players per capita than Florida. And they always got the “home town discount” as kids grew up wanting to play there regardless of who was coaching (remember they were not a big deal prior to Saban). NIL has changed that a bit but I think LSU is the better gig long termThis has never stopped any of the Florida schools from recruiting at a high level as there's enough talent in that state to go around. UF has more SEC titles and more SECCG appearances than LSU*.
(Since the advent the SECCG)
I'm not trying to say UF is better than LSU, just that they're more or less equal.
I've heard that about the Florida HS talent but the state is still heavily recruited nationally, including by ND, so I think it's a little overblown.
Who is more desirable than Kiffen? It seems like everyone that would be on that list is just not a realistic target. Smart, Lanning, Day, Freeman aren't leaving. Cig just got an extension. Sark might leave but only for the NFL. Who would be next?Anyone else find it interesting that all these schools seemingly have Kiffin 1A? He’s a good coach that hasn’t won anything yet and has a knack for losing games that he shouldn’t. Sounds a lot like the guy that just got fired from LSU. At least he’s cool. Maybe this year is different but I’m waiting for the loss to Florida or Miss State.
It could be the Lanning buyout is too much but in all these dumb wishcasting hotboards that have Kiffin, Freeman, Cignetti etc, you rarely see Lanning. Lanning is a better coach than Kiffin and more likely to make a jump than Freeman and Cignetti IMO.
I know one thing for an absolute fact. Freeman will get a raise before the Boston College kickoff.
I wouldn’t go that far. Saban & Miles never pretended to be southern guys and they did just fine. I don’t want to think how successful MF would be down in BR.No shot LSU hires a Yankee after the last go round. MF is a rust belt guy through and through. That alone will drop him down their list quite a bit.
Before kickoff was tongue and cheek, but I have no doubt he gets one ASAP. When programs like UF, LSU or Penn St come calling...it's not up for debate...it's just something that has to happen as he has too much leverage.I am not sure about that but he is talk to Pete about his list of things he needs. If they weren’t getting checked they will be soon.
Well Saban is from West Virginia. He may not be "southern" but he was no yankee.I wouldn’t go that far. Saban & Miles never pretended to be southern guys and they did just fine. I don’t want to think how successful MF would be down in BR.
All these big programs are gonna be bidding over the guy who got tarmac'd and named his kid Knox after the program he abandoned in the middle of the night to go get tarmac'd.
