If they are ponying up for talent, and the people paying for it don't see material improvement from the type of play that resulted in 6-6, I have a hard time believing they would sit idly by.

I don't know. Have heard nothing from Mike Martin, and it seems we are getting better recruiting results than we were during Chad's time. He did help put together the classes that whipped him the other night, but the way he went out left a pretty sour taste, and the players for ND played like it did. Wonder if Freeman played up the Bowden angle during practice this week. Love sure seemed to run like something pissed him off.

Social media chirping from USC immediately post Chad leaving. Likely at his direction or at least because of his arrival. Big emphasis on USC highlights against ND.

His introductory press conference he did the usual talking up your new team saying they were a step up.

Used a lot of Freeman-isms in his recruiting strategy stuff.

Honestly not too much really offensive and most is expected, but he went from ND to USC so his mere existence is now a slight. USC fans did more chirping about it than Bowen did IIRC.

I have seen the public things from him. There has been more talk about behind the scenes him bashing ND to recruits and trying to steal more guys. Wasn’t sure if anyone had more details

When he was hired, a big deal was made that he doesnt report to Lincoln Riley. How long before he is openly undermining Riley and pushing for him to be fired?? There is no way Bowden came away from the game without looking to place blame somewhere.

I seem to recall a couple of different “deep dive” style social media videos from USC that were clearly Bowden doing PR for both himself and USC as part of the move, and I think it featured some thinly-veiled shade at ND in one of those that WAS NOT the ND/USC history video.

Bowden’s sins started small but grew by orders of magnitude in the immediate aftermath of him becoming the enemy:

1. Tried to set himself apart as bigger than the place he came from (which, of course you have to try and do that as a new hire/salesman)

2. Didn’t care if he burnt bridges (questionable decision, but fuck it, I guess, if you’re all-in)

3. Probably lit a fire under a dude that knows how to get his team emotionally charged at just the right times, and you KNOW you’re doing it (unforgivable)

Was it pure rumor, then, that Bowden tried luring in a NIL Portal QB this year despite Freeman and Denbrock saying no? I thought that was the biggest part of the reason for burnt bridges and why Chad wanted more control over the roster.
