I never said a word about who should be paid the most. I don't know who makes what, but the fact of the matter is salaries go up anually, and it makes sense that Cig got a boatload. However, I take "someone who's won a title" to mean Dabo. Any AD who would give Dabo a mega-contract at this point should be executed immediately, or at least confined to an asylum.

If Sark or Lanning deserve more than Cig, it's mainly because perception matters a lot, and there are many people like you who see guys doing competent jobs at elite programs and value them higher than someone doing a legendary job at literally the worst power conference program of all time.

I-A Winning Percentage 1869-2023

As to, "are we really going to say "he deserves" more than Dabo/Sark/Lanning?" I apologize for reading that as an inquiry.

You said "he deserves every penny". Presumably you determining his "worthiness" of the money means you understand his salary relative to others, no?

Sark has won two playoff games and Lanning won the big 10. I'd say it's a bit more than perception. Winning on the biggest stages is typically what you get paid for, kind of like why you don't see those scrappy resourceful upstarts at the top.

I'd say a fair salary would be something around what Drinkwitz signed for in July 2025 at ~9M.

I'm pumped for the school that they're having success. They paid a hell of a premium to keep the vibez going and I hope it works out. But I get pretty weary of a guy building it essentially like a non-problematic Mel Tucker.

As I said, salaries go up every year. I'm pretty sure ND violated their policy of not paying the HC more than the average professor to nab Holtz, and the salaries of players and coaches have been climbing every year since across major sports. Two data points that matter: when was the contact signed, and how long does it run through. We probably don't even want to know what CFB coaches will be making in 2033.

This is all true, BUT….

Why do you insist of continuing to move the goalposts on this dude?

Maybe it was due to breaks, luck, scheduling, etc, but this dude literally took IU to the equivalent of a NY6/BCS game last year.

IU has played in exactly ONE NY6/BCS game in their entire programs history before he arrived.

He has equaled IU’s entire legacy in one season, much like MF eclipsed BK’s entire 12 year legacy in one game. He is already legitimate, even if he loses out.

Not really moving anything, I've been consistent in my assessment that he's pretty unproven and I think the jury is still out. IU has been the beneficiary of a soft schedule the last two years. Cignetti even said he looked at the 2024 schedule before he made the decision to take the job, the weak slate was one of the selling points. He saw an opportunity to make some changes and rattle off 10-11 wins against a lot of scrubs. He got stomped by the only two ranked teams he played, OSU and us.

Like I said, the Oregon win was nice, and Indiana certainly is in a better place today than they were in 2023, but they're not really the #3 best team in the nation. Look at the rest of their schedule again, they got up for one big game against Oregon (And to a lesser degree Illinois) and they probably don't play another ranked team the rest of the year again. That's only 2 ranked teams in two regular seasons. Penn State may get their shit together and give them a run for their money, but I have my doubts.

Indiana is a decent team, but until they prove a bit more they're overrated. One game doesn't make you elite.

Rhule right now showing that he is not ready for Penn state.
Nebraska finally gets ranked again, only to get crushed by Minnie. Wow.
Oddly enough, this seems to be par for the course for Nebraska. Started the season just inside the Top 25 last year, then immediately lost. They later cracked the Top 25 again, immediately lose again. Before that they went unranked going back to 2019, same thing...crack Top 25 in 2019, immediately lose.

Other than one year in 2016 under Mike Riley, Nebraska hasn't been consistently ranked in the Top 25 since Bo Pelini was let go in 2014. Almost every week he was there Pelini had Nebraska ranked in the Top 25 from '09-'14. The Huskers haven't been the same since.

Rhule getting beat by Minnesota 24-6 to should be the icing on the cake with him and Penn State or hype it up so he can make Penn State worse.

Sounds like Florida and FSU are both firing their coaches today.

Think Alex Golesh gets one of those jobs.

Weird timing after beating Miss State but not last week

All indications were he was fired earlier in the week it just wasn’t announced till today.

Miss St result didn’t matter. Ahead of a bye week then Cocktail Party.
