I guess I don’t understand the fascination some ND fans have with identifying with the scrappy underdogs. We’re one of the top 2-3 brands in the entire sport, the bluest of the blue bloods. We’ve just been crystal ball’d the #1 RB in the entire 2027 class. We have the resources to be The force in CFB, we’ve simply lacked the will. This is good for college football, guys. The days where Alabama and Georgia are head and shoulders just better than everyone else are gone, and the more parity in each league, the better. I really don't understand why IU committing to their football program seems to bug some of you so much.
Oh that is interesting, honestly that makes it seem like he’s looking to jump for the right offer.Cignetti's new buyout is only $13 MM and goes down to $10 MM after November. While this is an interesting development, it does not take him off the market.
Can we put that kind of change into some perspective? For that kind of change a couple of B1G titles and deep playoff runs at a minimum.
They are now, but they’ve now been cursed and blessed with expectations. They will have to deal with that accordingly. Can we put that kind of change into some perspective?
Their athletic revenue went up in 2024 from 2023 by $28.8M. I don't know what kind of minimum ultimatums have been put into this contract, which I'm sure has all kinds of stupid bonuses that are more than what most of us make in a year, but you can't tell me that everyone in Bloomington isn't loving life right now with what is happening. They haven't been to a Final Four since 2002.
Fan#1: This is awesome. I’m so excited because we’ve never had a FB team close to this.I guess I don’t understand the fascination some ND fans have with identifying with the scrappy underdogs. I’m not moved in the least by the underdog story in CFB because I cheer for Notre MFing Dame. I don’t want to be the beloved program, I want everyone to hate us like they did Bama and they do OSU.
Cig is a good coach, but the way they’re running it is not sustainable and he’s more likely to end up like Norvell at FSU than Bama.
I’m also not from Indiana and have no ties there, so IU means nothing to me. I’d be happy for their fans if any of them existed prior to 12 months ago.
So they had 2 fans 12 months ago. Just as I suspected.Fan#1: This is awesome. I’m so excited because we’ve never had a FB team close to this.
Fan#2: We should temper our enthusiasm until we see 3-4 years of sustained success. It’s only right.
Fan#1: forget that noise. Given our history we may never experience this again.
Does anyone know what Freeman makes? Last I saw it was around 9-10 million
The use of third person totally tracks.
Oh, I hate Cignetti. Whether it's in Bloomington or State College, I don't like him and don't root for his success. For someone who says IU “means nothing to me”, you sure seem fired up about their program. It’s a fun story, enjoy it. Or don’t.

So on that note, I’ll feel free to not enjoy it. 🫶
Brother, in the scope of CFB history, we are Cobra Kai. We're closer to them than Mr. Miaygi.Yeah, I always find myself rooting for Cobra Kai in the Karate Kid movies.
JFC, lighten up. It's not a good that a non-traditional power is investing in a great coach, and he's not jumping ship at the first big job that opens?
Hey, I've said it on here before, I am a hater. I'm not "Bane" by accident lol.Cignetti peed in Bane's cheerios. And killed his dog. Apparently.
I can respect some sports hate. I’ll allow it.Oh, I hate Cignetti. Whether it's in Bloomington or State College, I don't like him and don't root for his success.

This makes no sense to me. Why would he assume MF, a Midwestern boy with zero ties to the SEC or the south is on the table but Lanning, a man who coached at Bama and UGA is untouchable. I don’t think either would leave necessarily but Lanning seems way more plausible.
Really cool, man.Really dim reasoning
there are numerous examples over the years of successful coaches moving far away from where they started and doing just as well
Not to mention the problem of inbreeding which seems to be beyond your understanding
