This fanbase deserves so much better. Seriously.

I can only think of maybe a handful of franchises as cursed as this one.

Lining up in the gun for a 3rd and 1 when you’ve been running with ease under center surely wasn’t a giveaway there

I was so close. The pick six ruined it

The D really folded badly in the fourth quarter. The refs also made 2-3 suspect calls that extended scoring drives for the Vikings. The Vikings demonstrated they were better when crunch time came. Nice job missing a 50 yarder santos. That should be almost automatic in decent weather. We won’t be going .500 again. Caleb needs to take off more often and make himself useful. If he didn’t have Kmet catching his overthrown balls he’s look even worse.

Bears should’ve sent that kickoff out of bounds, right? Guaranteeing that no time comes off the clock is easily worth the yardage penalty. Need a three and out either way.

Helps that the D was missing so many starters.

Santos would have managed to screw that up, too. It was Murphy's Law in helmets and pads in the second half

Petty side note:

McCarthy looks absolutely ridiculous with that stupid ass face paint.

He legitimately looks like an 11 year old in the Little League World Series playing for Team Iowa or some shit.

The Bears had him ready to fold and become a headline skidmark, then they allowed him to manufacture confidence, now he’s a headline darling.

Fuck JJM, he is the least serious QB in the league.

Bears OL were having issues blocking most of the night what the hell do you think is gonna happen when they play GB? If I were the Bears after this year I'd trade DJ Moore to free up his money, make Tyson Bagent your QB I think hes better than Williams, trade williams to someone who needs a starting QB

Been years since I watched a full NFL game. Aikman sounds like Dan Dierdorf. and that whole kickoff thing was a new one to me. My Sundays are free again-no reason to watch this godawful team.

I turned it off after Minnesota's first score in the fourth quarter. You could see where it was headed.

Hate him all you want (if he didn't get drafted by the Vikings I would too!) but I don't think the guy who has only lost 3 games in his entire life as a starter going back to HS has to manufacture confidence. He legitimately never looked rattled to me. In fact late in the 3rd after a pick six, down 11 he went to the huddle and asked the team where they would rather be. Doesn't strike me as guy ready to fold.

CW on the other hand, he looked checked out most of the 3rd and 4th quarter.

Granted, per BJ, Santos was supposed to kick it through the endzone at the end there. That being said, it's f'n baffling to me that we continue to roster Santos and his limited range when kickers are hitting 60+ yarders with ease.

Was he throwing incompletions because he was checked out, or did he check out and then start throwing incompletions?

I get being critical of him, but you're suggesting something beyond him not playing well. The low hanging tropes seem to fly when it comes to this guy. Lazy, arrogant, dumb, bad attitude. We've been hearing this since Vince Evans, Warren Moon and all of the rest.

I don't know if he's going to be any good or not, but the accusations against him when it comes to intangibles or lack thereof seem to stem from him painting his fingernails and his team having a bad season his final college season.

Ben looked like a rookie head coach at times yesterday.

Never addressed out kicking coverage on punt that was giving way shorter fields to vikings than they should have had.

Not knowing your kicker cant get it out the back fo the endzone.

play calling never adjusted to the clear lack of discipline needed by OL/offense to not false start or have procedural penalties.

I also thought it was very clear in the fourth quarter than vikings offense had discovered what was/wasnt working, while bears were still trying to figure it out.

Penalties and the lack of the running game. If you're one dimensional and not on schedule, Brian Flores will eat you alive. He did.

Johnson coming from Detroit would have all the notes he needs on Brian Flores.

Bears have a culture problem. I've been saying it for years. It's a top-down problem. Wake me up when that changes.

This is what doesn't make sense.

Kevin Warren was named President in 2023. Ryan Poles was made GM the year before that. Ben Johnson just coached his first game. George McCaskey and Ted Phillips don't have their hands on this anymore.

The McCaskeys, despite their many faults, have spent money and paid players over the years. Particularly under the Lovie Smith regime (Urlacher, Briggs, Peppers, etc.) so it isn't a question of being "cheap." They've stepped further aside and have not meddled with the football people doing their jobs (Warren, Poles). There is a new stadium coming down the line by 2030 or 2031 and no tax payer money is going toward it.

Having a culture problem for 40 years leads me to believe there are larger, deeper forces at play here. I'm not one of these "curse" people, but that's what Monday night felt like. That old familiar feeling. Double digit lead going into the fourth quarter and they probably should have lost by double digits when all was said and done.

I think the players were part of the "culture" issues last year, and a lot of them are still on the team.

But either way, Williams and the OL are what's holding them back. Maybe Williams is a result of the OL, or maybe he just ain't it. I imagine, and probably rightfully so, they will give it one more go with Williams for the year, and reevaluate for next year if it turns out he can't be what everyone expected to be.

Which puts them back to square one.

Williams is Poles' guy. Poles hired Johnson as HC. If they scrap Williams after two years, that probably means Poles has to be let go. Now Kevin Warren has to hire a new GM with the HC in place that was hired by the previous GM.

It's like a sock in a dryer that keeps falling the exact same way during a cycle.

It's pretty crazy to me with the success Aubrey has had that the Bears haven't done anything to rethink how they scout kicking talent. What's the harm in off-season tryouts for former collegiate soccer players who have given up on their MLS dreams? There have to be a handful of guys who would be interested in that paycheck, fly them out for a week. Of course, the Bears are so inept they would probably do zero due diligence to.make sure people are who they say, and end up with a bunch of people who played intramural soccer and can barely kick a ball 30 yards let alone through uprights.

I think the only curse they have had the last 40 years is getting mediocre to poor quarterback play when it’s the most important position in all of team sports. I have seen franchises with a long history of poor performance quickly change fortunes when they get a superstar behind center.
