Side note,… I’m finding gameplay against Heisman cpu easier but recruiting to be more of a challenge than last year. I’ve still recruited one top class with ND but even after winning numerous titles at UTEP and building them up to a 4 star program (yeah after three nattys I was only barely a 4star) I only broke the top 25 in recruiting once

I cannot believe how poor this game is. Honestly seems like it regressed from last year in terms of gfx and gameplay. The cartoonish faces, the glitchy body characteristics. Running the ball is nearly impossible, the way it forces attack angles on defense is dumbfounding.

The game modes are also just genuinely boring. RTG feels like a bad PC roleplay game from the 90's. When you play FIFA or NBA2k you feel like you are able to assume a persona so much more deeply. This game is just bland and emotionless.

Such a bummer because I gave such a pass on last year's game thinking it was a foundation they would build on, but man- they went backward instead.

What's worse, when the Heisman setting is too easy or when you accidentally drop your magnum condoms for your monster dong?

I have only played road to glory so far to see how they update some of the mistakes they made. It’s clear that in dynasty. They meant well with the caps they put on place for switching positions, but didn’t think it through for when you switch players on the offensive line to different positions and how that then caps them. I will not play dynasty until August sometime When they incorporate some of the freshman.

It does seem like some of what they did is a regression, while I do hold out, hope that they fix things. Time will tell.

Damn...that's disappointing. I kind of gave them a pass last year too. I still dumped 100+ hours into it between Online dynasties and such, but there were pain points that were overlooked. I was assuming I'd eventually pull the trigger and would do a deep dive once Peewee/band season ends for my kids, but maybe I'll wait to see if they iron all this out.

I’ll go on record saying I think it’s an upgrade gameplay and graphics wise,… no doubt.

Just played NCAA Football 2007 for the first time in maybe 15 years. Brought back a lot of memories
2014 will always be one of my favorites, if for no other reason but I played the shit out of it all the way up till the newest was released. '07 was a pretty good year, even though it had Bush on the front. I was getting the game every year from '99 onwards, but I got extra invested once it got to PS3 in '08. We got the custom sounds, which I imported a shit ton of ND stuff and even put my own clips together from game/stadium audio. We started to get the online downloadable rosters which was so much easier than inputting ND's team manually. We got Online Dynasties eventually. I loved the series ever since I got my first copy on PS1 senior year, but to me NCAA hit it's peak in the PS3 era.

I remember inputting the ND roster on NCAA 2007 and making "reasonable adjustments" to the ND roster. "Terrail Lambert? He should be like a 94 overall, Rhema McKnight? Yeah he's 99 speed". My dad got hooked on it too, I remember he took a sick day off from work one time and I went into my bedroom and unbeknownst to me, he was on year 6 of a dynasty rebuild of Buffalo and had won 4 consecutive natty's lol. NCAA 2014 was when I was old enough to realize that maybe not every player on Notre Dame is a 90+ overall talent lmao

Nostalgia hits the hardest for me when I think about NCAA 2005, the one with Larry Fitzgerald on the cover.

I remember the day I bought it: it was the first time I ever printed out the rosters and recruiting class from rivals to name the ND players, I moved my PS2 to the big TV downstairs in our family room, and I stayed up until 4am, eating pizza, drinking Pepsi, and just playing NCAA.

Got kind of the same soft spot for 2008… loved using Clausen, Kamara, Allen, Tate and Hughes all as freshmen in the game, especially doing the offseason training drills to increase their stats during “spring” football after the first season

I’m doing a QB one right now. There’s fun new archetypes there. Play calling is a little better but still bad. I’m on my 3rd game, first two were rain games. You can’t use updated rosters which is inexcusable. Teammate IQ isn’t the greatest, especially from the RBs

Yup, before (And probably after for awhile) there were the roster imports on PS3 and I was inputting the players names myself...I was known to tweak their stats a bit, especially if they were a favorite of mine. James Aldridge was a way bigger star in my Dynasty than he ever was for us on the field. Zibby may have had all 99 stats, he was like a superhero. Rhema McKnight was my #1 WR.

I also had a tradition before Saturday games in South Bend. We'd always stay in Angola on Friday nights. Once my mom and grandparents were in bed I would sneak with my PS2 down to the exercise room of the hotel. At that time a lot of hotels had security devices on the back of their TVs to prevent you from removing the cable hookup and a lot of those old CRTs didn't have the RGB/Component cable ports. The TV in the exercise room was the only one not locked down. I'd play one game of ND vs. whoever their opponent was the next day. Then at the tailgate on Saturday morning my grandpa would ask me "So...what was the score last night?" I played on Varsity a lot back then, so it would be like "70-0." and he'd laugh.

Maybe I should put this in the "What Grinds Your Gears" thread, but I hate this isn't out on PC

I mean, come on!

I want to play so bad, but I'm not buying a whole ass console for one game.

Don't ever get a console after having a computer. I went from console (PS5) to computer and will NEVER EVER EVERRRRRRRRR go back to console. They are trash.

Been playing RTG so far until roster updates and some minor tweets the dev team is working on. Someone else mentioned this, but your teammate AI is incredibly awful. Hand the ball of and it’s just juke, juke, run to the outside, tackled. No hitting holes, no power to finish a run, etc. In turn, this makes sustaining drives with a limited play selection next to impossible as your coach only “trusts” you to run the same 10 plays ALL GAME LONG, and they are some of the worst plays in your playbook.

That's when you hook up a controller for certain games (sports, racing, etc)

This. You can hook up a controller, joystick, whatever. Typically you don't even have to buy a new controller either, Steam will recognize X-Box controllers or others if you have them. There's really zero good reason not to go PC over console, you can build cheap systems that do everything a Playstation or X-Box does plus more, and it effectively can have a longer life span with backwards compatibility forever. If you want to spend the money you can build a really good rig for more and get superior graphics and functionality, but it's not necessary.

I still keep a Playstation begrudgingly, but only for for a few exclusive games like NCAA Football now and Gran Turismo, otherwise it pretty much collects dust. The nice thing is many online games these days have gone cross platform, like Monster Hunter Wilds and Helldivers 2, so even when I have buddies that play these on console I can still play with them on PC. Consoles are getting more and more obsolete as a result.

I'm team PC, but I will admit that the PC has one major downside: way more time fiddling with settings and the compulsion to optimize leads to less time actually gaming.

You don’t like running Mesh 30 times a game?

Same. Bought a gaming PC almost two years ago and I would never consider even buying a game on the console that isn’t exclusive. And Microsoft Game Pass + steam + other services have more games than I have time to play.

That being said I still get a lot of use out of my PlayStation because the UI for my Samsung is one of the worst things ever created so I access any sort of TV/streaming right from the console.

I got Jagusah after my first year. Gonna be huge for my Pro Potential on the OL. Sevillano was also an option but picked someone else.
