Only surprising to the extent his dad was on the radio in Chicago during the playoff run giving effusive praise to Freeman and Co and the ND experience as a whole. But I don't see how he would ever actually be a first stringer at ND barring injuries.

No idea if true or not but have a source that knows the Urlacher’s a bit (they have close mutual friend) says SC dropped a bag for him

I find this hard to believe. Daddy Urlacher made a ton of money in the league; the family isn't hurting.

I think the simplest explanation is the easiest one - he wants to go somewhere to get more playing time.

probably the case for sure
I think both of these can be accurate to different degrees.

I also think people write off that rich kids also like the idea of making THEIR money, that THEY worked hard for, and that no one can accuse them of having been handed on a platter.

Well I also thinks a starting spot comes with it, He can start there. He’s not starting here

Rino Monteforte is a name that sounds like it has an obscene amount of family money.

Too bad but if he wants to play…

Will be annoying if he goes to USC because A: Bowden will crow about it. B: He’s the sort of ballplayer they have often lacked and I’d rather not play against him the next three years.
Bowden crowing about nabbing a 3rd string S who got jumped by his classmate would be embarrassing, even for him

Bowden went after him because he knew he wasn’t going to crack the two deep probably ever and was a special teams guy. If our third stringers can start at usc I wouldn’t be bringing too much attention to this one. Feel sad for the kid who won’t be a pro because he will probably not even have a degree from USC. I liked the speed he played at. Full!

I can see the bs social media post from USC now- "NFL Hall of Famer pulls kid from ND to come to USC, you should to"

I liked having him here because he had a sorta niche. Let him cook against teams like Navy
I would have negotiated some money for him to stay and play this role. However, it's likely not a money issue and kid wants to play a bigger role which we can all understand

Hoping he crushes it and kicks ass. Enjoyed seeing him flash and loved watching his Pops play.
